If you have a certain screen name, BUT put your name after EVERY post.....why not use your actual name as a screen name if that's what you want to be known as? Just askin BTW, Groucho is my nickname (not screen name) that people have called me near exclusively for over 30 years...in case you're wondering
I may be wrong, but I think every Screen Name has to be individual. So, if your name was Harry, no one else could use it. ......I think.
<<< , I thought about it a long time , but , no matter what , I DO LIKE THE RAT ROD LOOK!!! , I mean , think about it , back when these "TRADITIONAL JALOPIES" were roaming the street , they were as ridiculed as the "RAT RODS" are today , and to think about it , the "TRADITIONAL JALOPIES" were ridiculed by the "STAIGHT LACED " people , and the guys driving thiier "traditional jalopies" were considered the "outsiders" , kinda like the "ratrodders" are today , to me , it's kinda like the old saying..."history repeats itself"...I mean , I coulda used a name like "GOLD CHAINER" or "BILLET BOY"....LOL!!!!!!!!...not....
i used to work with a guy named Dick Burns!! a lot a people call me Scotty T.... hence the screen name!
Funny thing is, when the original "supposed" rat rods were around....those guys were doin the best they can. Now guys are doing the worst they can, on purpose to mimick that "look". Personally, I think that's just juvenile. So, there goes my thread. LOL
Gay used to mean something else also! Don't see anybody using it for "happy" now! Rat Rod means- shit quality....always will! Maybe you should have thought a little longer, haha!
Only some junk their stuff together , and I guess the look is what I like , I WILL NOT drive/ ride anything unsafe , and I think some of the stuff is rediculous , but , I guess its the flat black paint , and the patina that get my attention , not the toilet bowl seats and the webbing all over everything , just the old , weathered look , if you will the experienced look.
If this is true...you're NOT describing a Rat Rod! Rat Rods don't have patina, they have rust! From the look of your avatar,it's hard to believe you would think Rat Rods are cool!!!
Well, around where I'm from , the guys that use cheap primer , used parts from other cars that aint supposed to fit the car your puttin' em on , and using spray cans to flame cars .....all the "high class car shows" consider my car a rat rod , so , I call it the "phat rat" , I really dont put it in a class with the 2x4 floors , toilet bowl seats, and the like .... but my ride isnt high dollar , and it sure aint perfect , but given the right ammount of time (the inline 6 aint o perky after 65 mph) I would trust it to bum fukt egypt , so , I guess , on this board , it could be considered "traditional" , but where I'm from , it falls into the rat rod community....
Mine came from what my father would say everytime I would bring home another old none running old car. "He would say, why don't you just go out and buy a running and driving car, instead of bringing home a "nutajunka".
I don't care what people call my builds, I just call them Hot Rods. As far as screen names go, why does anyone sign their posts, we all can see who typed it. Your name is right next to it. VonKool13
I think your car looks pretty cool, and I wouldn't let anybody put me in the same category as Rat Rods! REGARDLESS of where you live!
I know that I do that. I think the "has to be unique for a screen name" is the reason. It's funny when I came up with my screen name I figured it would be unique. I have T-bucket with an 8" longer body so LongT. Then on the T-bucket forum I met a guy named Tom Long. Easily could have been LongT. Seemed funny at the time anyway. But I sign Bill because my name is Bill not LongT. I think that comes from when I was in an Amateur Radio club. One of the guys I palled around with said he hated that everyone was known by there call sign even when you met in person. He said the call sign was for the radio he was Ed in person. Kind of stuck with me. Bill
I run a single cylinder Weslake engine in my sidecar. I was once asked what the firing order was. To make sure I don't forget the firing order I chose it as a screen name.
My name is Bill and I was a Seabee with Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 26 The pic is of my great grandfather and his truck that he was pround of
My coupe was found in a Corncob crib in Iowa. Had been sitting there since who knows - a lonnngggg time. Thus - "Corncobcoupe" actually now - I just go by Cob Cob Moderator
