Thanks!!! I like it too , mabye the term isnt right for my car , I just kinda always linked the rat rods to the traditional stuff guys were doing back when my dad was young ,like I said , low buck budget rods , not glits and glam billet barges , loaded with all the garbage ....I like bare bones , no bullshit cars, made to ride , not to haul , dependable and safe , my dad always said , "boy , it dont matter how fast it goes , if you cant stop it , or, it blows the leg of your pants to your knees , its a pile of shit!!"
Gerg is my nickname just my name spelled backwords I get called Gerg more then Greg everywhere except work
well; you asked. i'm one of the folks who use a screen name and then put my whole name in the sig. my last name is atchley. atch is the logical nickname that i've been called for years. i've had missouri license plate ATCH on my '72 SS El Camino for about 15 years and had it on various cars before that. i signed on to the hamb as atch. ok, so that's the screen name part of the story. i have as much (or probably more) trouble as most folks remembering who is who on the hamb. i know many hambers by both their screen names and the handle their parents hung on them. i noticed that sodbuster/chris nelson used his full name in his signature. i've met chris several times. it dawned on me that because he used his given moniker in his signature that i easily remembered that chris is sodbuster, and visa versa. so many years ago i added my real name in my signature. perhaps folks can remember that atch is mike and mike is atch. perhaps not. but i've got it in there for those that it helps. so that's the "name in signature" part of the story.
I frankenstein all my cars together with parts from different sources, and build predominantly Fords, as that's what most of my experience is with and what the stash of spares in my laboratory is built around. So there you go.
My name is Nick, but my nick-name "Malcolm" stuck about 9 years ago... Thus my screen name. Also, I put my full, real name in my signature. I sign almost every post with "Malcolm", so it's easy to search/find threads that I've posted on and want to keep track of. so, of course, I'll sign again: Malcolm
OK, this one raises curiousity...WHY sign your posts with your already established screen name? Groucho Groucho..Groucho...oh, you already knew who i was
Most folks who knew me growing up called me Burnin' Bob because I loved burnin' my tires off,it's still fun,but it gets expensive. And I have a '53 Ford.
Dad is "evil clown" so "cloned clown" seemed an obvious choice for me. People laugh at us because we have the same mannerisms and quirks. We could be twins if he didn't have so much grey hair!!
And , if anyone's wondering , this car is awesome , looks like new , I saw this car in person this weekend , and it is a nice as it's owner , and he's has a collection to die for , Hi Darrell , nice to meet you in person , hope to have more deals with you in the future!!!
I'm just tryin' to give my defense attorney something to work with. Most juries don't go for straight-up insanity pleas, but multiple personalities throw 'em for a loop. JOE
The 1st forum I joined was the Ford 6 forums, & when looking around the site, most had names associated with thier vehicle. I had a '46 Studebaker truck, so I chose 46stude. Then I joined other forums, & just used the same screen name to make it easier on me. I've often wished I had chosen something that used my real name instead. Bad part of using a vehicle as part of your name is: if you get rid of that vehicle, your name don't make sense no more. My real name is Jeff, which explains my signature line.
BTW, I've seen a pattern of guys changing their screen names to their real names on the HAMB...and I like it. Chris Casney Miguel Zarate John Denich..............
You do know that if you click on your username, then on the statistics tab it will show all posts you've made and threads you've started.... Your posts are here Your Threads are here And Groucho...You're killin' me! I was having a discussion last night about this same thing! It started with the ones that have been "banned" since I've joined and progressed into strange replies(holeshot)and posting your username at the end!
The vanity plate I ran on my old '48 Chevy p/u was BOYDWHO. Yes, it's a dig at Mr. C. I post my name in my sig because people often call me Boyd when replying to my posts. I could change my online name to my real one but I'm too lazy, and I like Boyd Who.
I look at the HAMB a few times a day. When I do, I search "Malcolm" to find threads that I have posted on and want to keep track of. Much easier than looking through quite a few pages of threads. The reason I do this is to see if a question I have asked on a thread has been answered, more photos posted, etc, etc... Make sense, John?
