I'm going to chopup my 40 coupe, where do I start?

39 Deluxe's were the best looking cars ever made by Ford, the 40 is almost as nice (why they are more popular alludes me) you can not improve on perfection so why mess with it. Set the height to your liking and leave it alone. But, your car, your money, your way.

 

Thanks! It's about time that car was rolled into the fight. There was a fully flamed red chopped '40 at a local cruise 10-12 years that could have passed as a twin to that car. Owner flipped it at an auction its wereabouts are unknown to me. It was perfect!

well I said i liked its look, it really catches the "laker" look. However I would,nt chop up a cherry one, I,d go looking for one that needs lots of work becuz thats what will be needed. Its lots harder to build a cherry, than chop a beater. The Lakes racers were looking for ways to go faster, and chopping was one of them, and beaters were cheap. we wanted that look, because thats what the fast guys did. Like 4 pot manifolds,[for alcohol fuel]and wheel rakes,[taller gear]dropped axles [less wind resistance]etc.everthing was related to speed not looks, we looked far and wide even then for a 'cherry' 39, 40 coupe, they were great for building, a cruzer or a cheater, [stock looking full race flatty]

 

That's a masterpiece????? To each his own.
