if it is what you like who gives a crap what any other bozo thinks aye? and the 4.3 is a ballsy little motor, more than enough to move that little thing around. sounds (and looks) good to me.

one more vote for the paint stripper...if you go that route, just make sure it's not on any bare metal for very long and use lots of soap and water to make sure it's ALL gone when you're done.

What sort of exhaust manafolds are you going to use? The ones I've seen seem to go almost straight back, and would probably make life intestering around the firewall. I'm considering using a 4.3 as I have one that looks like it's worth saving.

Looks like I will need to use a "center dump" style header on the driver's side. The P side has plenty of room. I have some Monte Carlo OEMs I plan to cut and paste.

    On behalf of myself, no.

I don't really understand anything about this car...but have fun.

On that rust...thats just what you see on the outside. The metal is probably really thin all around them. I forget what the rule is....the diameter of the hole is only half the diameter of the rust effected area? Something like that....you need a patch panel.

I'm pissed that you're not wearing a respirator. $4 at the Home Despot will keep all that lead laced paint out of yer lungs.

Good point. Done. My wife suggested the same thing when she saw all of the blue/purple dust on the driveway.

Your build doesn't piss me off, .......... it just shows how much time and effort you are wasting.....kinda like your going backwards. That body will rust faster now, what a waste.

Does ripping your t-shirt open in front make you feel macho?

    I'm not so sure what's wrong with a 4.3 - it's a 265, just with two less cylinders.

I wouldn't run without any paint, but it ain't my car -

Small block 350 missing two middle cylinders 265 is the 4.3's ci.

In the 2wd S-trucks (varying by the year) the rating was around 180hp/245ftlb of torque, and 190 hp and 255ft lb in the 4wd trucks. Peaking output at 4500 and 2500 rpm respectively. And redlines around 5500.

Their pretty happy motors. Sound deep and mean sounding for a V6 I'd say too.

What year S10 did it come out of?

1990, I have been running a V6/700R4 in my '63 Chevy II daily driver since Feb05 and like it.

Just out of curiosity, did you strip the paint because you wanted 'bare metal' as the end all result. Or did you strip it to see how bad it was under the paint, with the intent of painting it when you get whatever you found bad fixed?

that's a great little engine, I had a '93 4.3L/2004r s10 and that thing was pretty quick. did you carb yours or are you running the TBI?

you can run the Vortec heads on that thing from the '95-newer 4.3...you 'can' get a bushing/drill guide and drill the manifold out to fit the vortecs or you could just buy a carb vortec intake, I think I remember there being a TBI Vortec intake, too, not sure on that one though.
and there's always the turbo option! if you ever see someone driving a psyclone/typhoon, try to get a ride in it!!

What part of 4.3L is traditional??? How can you guys justify what this guy is doing??? I personally think he is making the ultimate douche bag daily driver. Wow you guys are soft lately...IFS....4.3L.... why don't you paint some checkerboard grafix on your street rods and call it a day... Holy shit things change in a hurry around here. I guess to you guys that the 90's were the days of hot rodding and why not bring back those sweet 6 cylinders... Oh yea you should also leave it purple because it will match your fanny pack.

What's wrong with being non-traditional? Isn't this partly what it's all about? Doing shit that not everybody else does?

I do believe that traditional hotrodding stemmed out of putting bigger engines of the time into smaller old cars and taking it to the strip. I do believe it has come from being different then the car next to you. It's not a damn honda motor, still has pushrods and a carb, and roots back to the 350 small block and the classic big block 305, 351, (etc) GMC V6s. While not the most common damn thing in a custom, it's got it's place.
