Thanks X38, I'll have to give it a try. I have found citric acid to be the best and cheapest for larger items in a rust removal baths. Best to buy at bulk jam supply stores in powder form, and most supermarkets stock it. Once the item is removed from the citric acid rust free I pressure wash it, then use kerosene in a spray bottle to stop rust flash. Then blow down with an air hose. Works great!

  2. If you rub the parts or panels over with Ranex it will remove the flash rust and protect the surface.

Jonathan W did some good upholstery jobs lately. He makes good videos. Very interesting.

Original paint grille shell arrived today. Had to massage some metal around for the garnish to fit. 20200421_154243.jpg 20200421_145417.jpg

    I really like it!

You should drive it back to that farm and say "I'll take that frame now"

    mikie likes it ! … who wouldn't ?
from where it started... wow... how many of the parts on the car now are the ones you started with...
I dig the wheeling and dealing that it took for you to improve the car to the level it is at today...
it would be cool if you could post an early pic next to it now !
easier for us non computer types...

Chopped up a repro tail light for the lower license plate lense, and mounted the bezel. "STOP" glass, bucket and lense is late 20's I think, stalk is 32. 20200422_180252.jpg Looks alright lit up!

thank you for the then and now pix...
I thought you got that '32 grill here in Maine,
Because at first glance I thought the "star" on the grill was a Maine mosquito !

I'm not sure what the star is from, might be an Aussie ford star model badge. I still have to do some research on it. I got it yesterday and thought I'd put it on and see if I like it.

I would run the star and ditch the V8. Too many repro of those running around on everyone's grill.

Thanks for the input, I'll do a little more mocking up. I was planning to make a headlight bar as it's a headlight bar emblem. I'll post pics once I've done it.

Played around in the shed this afternoon. I modified a pair of anti chatter rods to fit the roadster. Fired up my old $70 lathe and made the locating collars for the "K" member end of the rods. Haven't had the chance to set the lathe up until now. Did the job, can't get much for $70 these days. All I had to do was bolt it to the bench and away it went! 20200524_155851.jpg 20200524_144537.jpg 20200524_150712.jpg 20200524_151618.jpg

Dragged a few things home yesterday. Including a single headlight and have got onto a matching light to go with it, I may run them on the roadster or paint the red ones, not sure yet. Hunting for parts has been my reward after the last few doctor visits for my ptsd, the hunting has been fun! Some parts I'll use, some I bought for a mates T roadster and some I'll move on to help pay for roadster parts. 20200527_164220.jpg 20200527_124651.jpg 20200527_100558.jpg 20200526_151522.jpg 20200526_144609.jpg 20200526_151541.jpg

One thing I like about the green light which I've been told is a Corcoran&brown is unlike the guide-682c headlights, they don't reproduce them. Plus they're war surplus which is a neat piece of hot rod history in itself!

Sold the 4 alloy heads today, so I have some shopping money for the roadster. E-fire dizzy and new strombergs are on my list! I'll be able to get one of the three items. Got some time in the shed and wet sanded my lights and did some mocking up as well. Gotta make the lights look more at home. 20200528_172641.jpg
