A 'look' is right! I put on that same kind of look when I saw those wheel covers. The Deuce 'find' was metamorphic. Now, those rare wheel covers... How and where did you find those? Love your penchant to find Deuces in rubbish, etc. In a large place such as O-Z! Bet there's another story...
I spent some time tonight modifying the sump, and clutch cover for the roadster, to clear the wishbone. I like the idea of not splitting the bones. This is a truck sump which also has the large inspection plate on the bottom of the sump. This is just one of those jobs I've been putting off.
Good choice on the truck pan... Bonneville Bud Jones ran one on his '27 T roadster, but actually split the bones because of the lower bell cover interference with 'said bones'... I liked the large sump plate, I could get my whole hand in there if necessary. Bud attended and competed at the first Bonneville Speedweek, and was in the famous photo of the fellows in Hot Rod Magazine. He was disappointed with the monsoons this year...
I turned on my laptop, went to the H.A.M.B. and found your post. I couldn't stop reading it until I got to the end! Great thread. I can't wait to see the smile on your face the first time you drive it! Keep the posts coming and happy hunting as well. P.S. Hope the foot is doing well!

It's been a while since I posted any progress. I have the 32 heavy axle under the roadster, 46-48 wishbone, made some progress scrounging parts for hood latches and installed a 32 steering box. It's nice to bolt some parts on.
Unfortunately there's no crazy story on the wheel covers other than I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to purchase them. Their condition fits in really well with this roadster.
Yesterday I dragged out some parts for another engine I'm building up, and today I got to mock up the little "Wade" supercharger. I was lucking enough to get today in the shed, and got some welding done on the roadster. I'd been putting it off until the weather cooled down, and "total fire ban season" was finished.
Looking good mate, excited to see this come together! Will have to drop in for a sticky-beak when we are over next.
Well it's been a little while since I've posted any progress. I have recently sold a few things to afford some parts to help my progress. I am currently working on the plumbing (exhaust, brakes and radiator hoses) and also the wiring. The exhaust consists of dual 2" tubing with 18" hotdogs. I also bought a few vintage parts I think are interesting, and rare. The cowl lights remind me of e&j type 20 headlights and would make cool indicators on something With those headlights. Surprisingly they're from a 1913 Vauxhall. I think the bullet style generator is very interesting as well, it is 12V. The hunting for parts is a lot of fun! Here are some photos.
It sure is different, thank you! The point is made of brass, I have no idea what it came off. I'm glad I'm not the only person who thinks it's cool!
Yeah, the generator is a One-Off, for certain. Great looking, and as for the design of those older generators, easy to rebuild. If you can only find larger brushes, they can be ground down to size with a fine stone grinder.
I've always resized brushes using sandpaper, I find I can control the sizing better as it doesn't take many passes to remove material from them. I stick the sandpaper down on a flat surface and carefully pass the brush over the sandpaper so I don't remove too much material!
Great work, we have a 1911 Vauxhall in the work shop at the moment, 2 in fact. Those lights are made by CAV
The generator is a "Rotax" brand out of London. Google came up with aeroplane engines, but nothing that looked similar.
It's been a while, here are some progress photos. I have it running well. Today I modified some throttle linkage parts for the accelerator, and have been working on the brakes. I have a few parts ordered and on the way so I can make some progress during the Christmas period. The exhaust is almost done, I'm getting closer to having a driver!
I have had some troubles with the stromberg e-fire distributor. Having spent quite a bit of time with the multimeter testing multiple things, I discovered I had a bad ignition module, which had sat for a couple of years. I then purchased another module, and still had no spark. The problem ended up being a bad earth due to the anodised body of the e-fire distributor, running an earth directly to the base of the ignition module fixed the issue.
That would be very cool, I'm a bit far away from that I think unfortunately. I have to learn how to do each process before I do it, so it takes me a little longer. I can build a kitchen and cabinets from muscle memory. But this is mostly all new to me, I'm learning a lot building this roadster.
Hahaha, yes I have a few! Now that I have the one made up for the roadster, I'll copy it, and make one for the coupe.
At very least will come & check it out.... Now do you need anything brought over??, will be bringing an empty trailer over...
