My first drag car was a 1954 Buick Special with a 56 Century engine, 3 speed stick and 3.90 rearend. It was rather fast for what it was. In the early 60's it would outrun 348 Chevy's, 352 & 390 Fords, old Hemi's, etc, if they were stock like mine. My best guess is it ran the quarter mile in about 15.8-16.0 based on my friends time slips and our backroads race results. My current car is a 1967 Buick GS 400 with a 455 Stage 1 eng, 3.42 pos, TH400 trans with the 3000-2000 stall switch pitch Buick converter. It runs best at 12.40's on a good day. I prefer the totally stock look in and out, including Buick air cleaner, q-jet carb, stock fuel pump, iron exhaust manifolds, stock wheels, etc. I've had it 30 years. As you can tell by now, I like the backyard/junkyard budget way of doing things. I like "Rat Rods" and many 50's-60's cars from the good ole days. I don't spend the price of a home on a car. I make the MOST with the LEAST, (skip the BS and fad stuff) and thats where it becomes fun. Not knowing what HAMB means, I can only guess that I'm onto the right website here. Let me know. Gary B.
