Been lurking here about a year now. Got a thing for '40 Fords, have 3, only 1 runs. Liked old cars since I was a little kid. First started reading Hot Rod Magazine in about 5th grade in the school library and got a subscription for Christmas when I was 12. Married, 2 kids, getting dangerously close to 50, work in Insurance. Got my first '40 given to me by my Grandfather when I was 16. Still have it, was a one owner old lady car. It's stock so over the years, I've put it in AACA type shows like Hershey or open events like Lead East, Wildwood or Syracuse Nationals. Also take it to local cruises around here (NJ/PA area). Not afraid to drive it and I don't own a trailer. Presently working on a '40 Coupe project and going very slowly. It's at the point where I need to pay someone for the real body work and I'm too damn cheap! Went to VoTech School at night for a while to learn autobody repair, but didn't keep up with it so now I'm paying the price. Let's see if I can post pictures.
Sounds to me like you tried to used Star and then uploaded to Ryans server too??? What's the link to your Star photo site? and welcome to the HAMB. Nice intro, nice details, and you tried to post a photo. That counts for alot of brownie points. I'll see you in Syracuse in July.
what township do you live in New jersey.. I live about 2 miles from Race way park in Etown.... Nice whips..!
Thanks for straightening out my screw-up. Denise, I met you briefly in the parking lot at the Holiday Inn at Syracuse in 2002, I was wearing a Rodders Digest Shirt. Last summer, the car was apart as the one picture shows so went to most events as a spectator. There are a couple pictures of the Coupe Project here: http://photo.starblvd.net/40luv The '48 Chevy "farm truck" is ours too. Been in the family since new. The other pictures are just some stuff I liked since I got the digital camera. The '40 Convertible is my holy grail.
41Sled, Depending on who I'm trying to impress, I say I live near Trenton or I live near Princeton. I've had the Sedan at The Raceway Park shows a number of times. Even drive on that dirt road to avoid the traffic going to Englishtown.
Woa dude you're way ahead of the game. Forget about not understanding the picture thing. Welcome The PknBner
Welcome 40LUV. I'm sure I've seen you Ford around somewhere! We've got a mid-winter reliability run coming up on the 10th. It's headed for Posie's & Terry's in Hummelstown, PA. Blow out the cobwebs and come hang out. See you around. Bil
[ QUOTE ] Denise, I met you briefly in the parking lot at the Holiday Inn at Syracuse in 2002, I was wearing a Rodders Digest Shirt. [/ QUOTE ] I do actually remember meeting you. In fact, we ran into each other a few times in the parking lot and always said hi. If I remember correctly you were with your wife and another couple. I think I dragged you over to see "Project Big Olds" Glad you found the coolest little hangout on the internet. I'll see you in July although I don't think I'm staying at the Holiday Inn next year. I'll probley stay where the PackRats are staying but I'll be in the parking lot of the HI causing trouble per usual and smoking a tire or two. [ QUOTE ] dang Denise!* that's why you didn't do it for him! [/ QUOTE ] Paul, there is always a method to my madness
Hi LUV. Welcome to the HAMB. Cool bunch of rides you got there. What one are you going to put that Buick nailhead in? Billy
Welcome........ Unlike some of the other newbies........I believe you will fit right in. Nice collection of 40's. I (like most here) also have a soft spot for 40's. Heres my 40 standard coupe. New paint and running boards since this photo. Now about Denise........you have to watch her.......she gets around. Heres a photo of Denise and the BigOlds at the Bar-B-Que place just down the road from my house.........in the middle of South Carolina. .
Welcome, I've a 39 deluxe coupe (close enough to the magical 40. Got some parts if ya need. Let me know. See you Posies???
Thanks for the welcomes. 41SLED, I've seen the Chevy Coupe around, but can't remember where. Probably can't make the Reliability Run to Hummelstown, both kids start the basketball league that day and this is the first year they're on the same team. Dad's going to need to be around to referee after the game's over since big brother could have alot to say about little brother's performance. Denise, you have me confused with someone else, my wife hates riding in my old stuff since they don't have seat belts. I'm lucky to get her to come to a local Cruise Night, but she'd never make the 5 hours to Syracuse. Funny thing, she never minded riding in the Sedan before we were married. The nailhead is a possibility for the Convertible. I got it for free and it would have been an even better deal if the guy didn't take off the Offy 2 pot intake and the early Ford trans adapter that were on it. It came out of a late 40s Ford pickup that got updated with a Chevy. The yellow engine is mine and slated for the Coupe which will get painted the same color. Check the exhaust manifolds, it's not really a Lincoln, but a 350 with an identity crisis. It seems valve cover swaps are taboo here, but I like it. They're off a Lincoln Y Block, but I sent them to a metal fabricator in Michigan who advertised in the back of Street Rodder to make the flanges to bolt up to the Chevy heads. Originally we had just welded bolts to the top of old steel Chevy valve covers to slip the Lincolns over and bolt down stock Y Block style, but they looked half-assed. Hope this covered all the questions. Happy New Year.
Welcome 40Luv, Think we met last year at an indoor show @ the Sovergn Bank Arena in Trenton. You has the sedan there & I had my 50 Chevy. While we were talking, I remember some little kid jumped into the guys Vette next to you & started " steering & shifting " it like he was driving a race car.... Welcome, Steve
Welcome to the HAMB. I am a 40 guy also, although mine is kinda worn out. I love that purple convetable you have, very cool color. Chuck
CopShop, that coupe is GORGEOUS! I want my tudor to sit axactly like that. What kind of front axle and spring does it have? And are those stock 50 Merc wheels on front and back? alchemy
