Projects I'm off to find my '30 Roadster in the Basement.

  1. Not hiding- aging :D

  2. Bob Looks Good! Glad to see progress. Let me know if you need help. Or need to get rid of any 32 junk. Remember my A sedan? I built that in my basement in my first house. After I took out the wall of the garage to get some more room. Did all the welding there and me and Don Silberbauer painted it maroon lacquer there as well. That went over big. Have pictures someplace allthough you could not see much with all the paint dust. Good Times!

Good to see this back at the top. I would be in paradise with that basement.. For some odd reason, I actually love cleaning and organizing messes like this.

Too bad I don't live in the New England area, I'd be over in a heartbeat to help. I can only provide words of encouragement..

Get to work, Bob. :D looking toward some updates.

This is a photo test, I think I've got the settings right on the new camera. I need to clean the garage and find the Lyndwood when it gets warm.

Unless you count daydreaming TWO months went by and I haven't done a thing on the project. I keep thinking about the Rolling Bones style front end I'll have on the '32 chassis. T leaf rear spring, 9 inch rear, 354 HEMI and full hood, with cowl steering. Now that I think of it i did collect a box of parts for the sandblaster to pick up, having clean parts in primer is progress.

  10. get to work... slacker... :)

    Bob,

I jut blame my general lack of progress on the 25 hour/8 day work week and/or lack of cash, time, and space. Finally got some shelving up in the garage- starting to get organized so that I can get to work.

Looking forward to the spring updates, now that you all are stating to thaw out up there!

    Takecare, Bill

Thanks 37ford4dr, my daughter showed me how to get the photos off the camera and into the computer. I've even unloaded a full chip onto a disk and cleaned off the chip and restarted using it. I really don't want to be featured on "Hoarders, Buried Alive" and a lot of stuff left the basement since New Years but you wouldn't notice it. I've got a clear picture of the finished car in my head, just have to go to the next step and attach the Brookville cowl panels, and finish the cowl so I can go onto putting the subrails together, repair and fit the doors, attach the quarters..........

Bounced back to working on the Lyndwood rail restoration, but I did uncover the HEMI for the Roadster. Need to find a pair of stock cast iron TRUCK headers for the HEMI.

I actually spent some time on the project over the weekend. Razor bladed the paint off the deck lid, sanded it with 1500 and gave it a coat of wax. How I have something clean to look at. Spindles are at the blaster, should be back this week. Posted some questions here about drilled backing plates. Got the back side of the roof on the house striped and tar papered so I can start shingling this week. Nice thing is the with 30 year shingles I'll never have to go up their again.

Bob, my Stutz is in my basement too. I like the way the deck lid came out. Keep chugging.

I hope I have adventures like this when I'm your age. This is coming along great. Slowly but surely.

I should finish the cowl and get in primer, but desided to attack the drivers door. I think I bought this door around 1975, good except the bottom is rotted off it. I won another on eBay last year that had everything but the bottom rotted off it. both were glass beaded by American Dry Striping in Milford, Ct. Gary does great work. I made a frame out of plywood that fits the eBay door nice and tight, this is a solid door that gives me the overall height of a finished door. I can rip another piece of wood and use it to mark my cut line. Install the other door tight to the top and sides and cut it. I plan to use the frame as a welding jig as well.

  20. Good luck with the project, enjoy the process of building a hot rod or a classic is the best, and if you have previously purchased parts years ago, much more and then you remember the time when you bought those parts, Some and others don't, of course! memory can fail ...

Thank you! Every part on this project has a story, and a friend that is related to it. Working on it reminds me of the ones that have departed this world, and how their friendship helped get me to were I am today. I really enjoy following your projects in Argentina, that '32 is a good one.

I just spent a good hour cleaning off the setup table the body is on and noticed four months went by since I last worked on the project. Fiddeled with the door locks, organized some things and put them away, then I got side tracked. Any flat surface around here becomes a shelf, so I went through the boxes of stuff and took out the unwanted stuff for that auction site and put the keepers away. Time for some welding tomorrow.
