This is sort of an update, if you have been following this life long project you know every part has a story, many came from friends that have pass along. The car is sort of a memorial to all of them, the car has soul, something a 800 number and a credit card can't produce. Some time 45 years ago I found the remains of a 1930-31 Ford Special Delivery at the town dump, looks like a station wagon with two doors and blacked out sides. I collected the bits and sold them off but kept a door window regulator, it hung on the wall in the attic with the Roadster body untill everything was moved down the street to my place. Finally desided I didn't need the regulator and listed it on that auction site. Winner was totally shocked to see it listed, he had a badly broken one. I asked him how rare the body style was....there are six known in the world, he doesn't count the reproduction bodies as real. I'm buying rear fender well patches with the money.:)

I'm selling stuff and putting the funds in the Roadster! Details and photos when the parts arrive. Don't know why, just looked around and started selling stuff.

Sold a 1905 Locomobile gauge and spent the money right away on a '32 Ford cowl vent hinge from 3Window Larry, and a Pierce Arrow dash from Alchemy. The dash arrived yesterday and it is a true work of art, fits my Brookvile dash perfectly. Next thing is buying hinges for the doors and finding a '32 cowl vent. I'd rather use an original, but may have to buy one from Brookville.

Selling that Locomobile gauge was a real good thing. I bought it from Dave Domidion years ago, a Brass Car guy I met long before I had a drivers license. One of the nice guys in the hobby that always had time to chat with people, young or old, and was happy about the fact that other people liked his cars. Some people are into '32 Fords, Dave was into the 1931 Springfield, Mass. built Rolls-Royce, had one of all 13 body styles. I got to see them when I bought a Halibrand rear axle from him. I'll always remember him, but now I can think about 3Window Larry and Alchemy as I start putting this project togeter. ct1932ford, you're on the list too once I step up and buy the AC/Cobra SMITHS gauges. If I was building this car in 1962, I could have found a wrecked Cobra someone was parting out.:)

Bob, you really got to get going...:) ... it's a nice day and warm in the other half of CT, so I just finished enough welding to get mine outside by 2pm to blast the firewall. I;m tired but i got to keep at it.

at our age, we should not put it off ..he, he

Any time I actually work on this project is noteworthy to me, even if its only 2-3 hours. Cleaned off the work table and put everything in its place, even made places for some things. Found out the Pierce Arrow dash would have fit in a 1933-34, and started filing and sanding it, it's a really nice casting. Looked at the feet on the cowl, have to cut and reweld them for the mini channel that several guys have done on their HAMB projects. Got to find someone with a bead roller to redo my cowl panels, if they can be corrected. Just bugs me that that detail isn't the same as Henrys. Got to buy some studs so I can drill and thread the dash. Once that is sanded and polished it can be put aside and I can move on to another piece. Forcing myself to focus and finish something is my new goal.

If you need "good" pics of that mini channel, I believe there is a link on the BlackRoad Chassis website. If you can't find it, I can try.

Here is the mini-channel link that came from Black Board Chassis site:

Hoods? I normally don't care for them, but that one does look very good on that style build, for sure.

Thanks! I've got big plans for my hood sides, but want to have the cowl and dash done and in primer before moving on.

I posted an electrical question last week, and the replies really screwed up my thinking on this project, and I've preatty much blocked out ever finishing it. I do want to get the body done 100% and in primer paint ready before buying the frame rails. Drilled and tapped the Alcamy Pierce-Arrow dash and used some Bugatti nuts and studs that have been in my toolbox since 1984. Fitted it to the Brookville '32 dash that fits a 30-31 Roadster, then got that tweeked to fit in the cowl. I need to drill some more holes to allow this to attach to the cowl hoop and stay in place without using the three stock dash rail screws. I'll worry about drilling gauge and button holes in two years or so when and if I have them.

Thanks for the offer, but I'm really blocking that shit out of the build until the car is painted and upholstered, I want to enjoy looking at it. Dragged the Franklin steering out and can start planning the cowl mount setup. Four nights in a row working on the project, I can keep going without spending any money for a while. :)

I don't know why, maybe because the table saw was set up for another project but I spent some time on the Roadster today. The drivers door is good except for the mouse nest that rotted out the bottom front corner and there is rust through along the bottom. It looked worse when I came back from the sandblaster, American Dry Stripping in Milford, Ct. I have another door with a great botton and inner panel, just need to cut and weld the two good halves together. I made a box that fit the other door since it is solid top to bottom, then placed this one in and it touches top and sides. I ripped a piece of pine the width of the good solid bottom and scruibed a good line to guide my tin snips. I need to take it to work tomorrow to cut the spot weld that are on the rolled edge. The other door sits in the box and gets the scribe mark, giving me two parts that will make a proper height door. Any step that takes me closer to a finished component is a good one. Bob

It was nice this afternoon, set up a table out back and did some welding. Making one door out of two took some carefull cutting and fitting. I need to use the cutoff wheel at work tomorrow, then the outer skin can go on.
