Ok, I see now. I'll be the first to admit I'm a retard when it comes to bikes! I figured the engine was the same. I certianly wasn't trying to be a smart *** and I appreciate you taking the time to point out what you acutally used instead of being offended with my remark. I have learned more about bikes since I've been on the HAMB than I though I ever would. Looking forward to seeing it come along. So who's gonna paint it
B*** the climate in Texas is all wrong for Britsh bikes box them up now and send them to me in Indiana.I will take good care of them for you. Lookin good man workin on gather parts for my nxt project now its a bsa.Keep postin pics it keeps me motivated. later Shoe
OH ****in **** frickin... or something to that effect... i agree with Evel one of the sickest damn scoot builds i have seen in a while, and i absolutly LOVE the springer idea. gonna watch this to see how that front comes out for DAM sure. i just put my '54 build into high gear to get the floor in it so i can roll it out and drag it over to the self serve car wash place and pressurewash the engine, frame, and insides to make all the mechanical work a little easier, but this makes me wanna finish my Kaw750 twin project so i can sell it and buy a Beezer... NICE
Allright thats it. Your makeing me sick now. This stuff is just falling in your lap now. You have to go back to a real job.You have too much time during the week to look for stuff. You did'nt even mention that treasure today when I saw ya. Good score. You are living the life man. I'm off to change some dipers now.
Hey B***, I hope you don't mind if I ask a couple questions. I have at the moment, 3 Triumph engines (I was told they are all 750 Bonneville's), and three frames, one of them being an OIF that was cut up and a Suzuki swingarm added to the back. I have seen a couple people turn the head 180 degrees on these engines and have the carbs out front and the exhaust running out back. Do you know much about this mod ? Any pros/cons to it ? Also, how much of the engine work do you do to the engines ? One of the engines I have is missing the head and one of the pistons (I'm sure it would need to be bored, so I doubt that's a major deal). Honestly, I don't know much at all about Triumph's, but I would definately like to learn as much as possible. Any tips/tricks/places for info I can look ? Thanks in advance. -Aaron
Theres some info out in the internet world on this mod.I have heard the one draw back was that the heat got a little extreme on the ole walnuts and that test showed it did not run any faster. But man did it sure look wild the one bike I have seen with the carbs out front. Shoe
Dang B***! I cant wait for the TV show! Maybe you could get Honest to get all mad and fake a heart attack for drama. Killer stuff bro! Ed
This is more common on Pre-unit Triumphs since the later Unit Triumphs have a 9-bolt head, with the center bolt being offset towards the front of the cylinder bores. To reverse the head on a Unit Triumph you would have to drill and tap another hole in the jugs so that you would have the corresponding bolt hole to use when you turn the head around. The other thing to consider is that your intake and exhaust cams will be backwards now....so you're probably going to want to switch them around. Other than those two mods, you shouldn't have to do much to reverse the head. Triumphs use a hemispherical (hemi) combustion chamber and the piston's valve reliefs are the same from either side...so valve clearance is not an issue. Timing shouldn't be too tough either. Although...Triumph Terror is right in that there really isn't any performance benefit to speak of, and tuning might be a little tough with the carbs catching air rather than ****ing it. It does look cool though. My advice as far as learning about Triumphs is to pick up a manual. Haynes has a pretty good one...but the factory manuals are best. They turn up on ebay fairly often. There are also some decent websites out there...do a search on here for 'Triumph websites'. -Brian
Amen! And I don't mean the frame company. Another great book to get (it's out of print and VERY pricey) but it is the bomb when it comes to what fits what and how to do Trumps is: Triumph Motorcycle Restoration Guide Bonneville & TR6 1956 - 1983 Authentic Restoration Guide David Gaylin, 1997, SC, Motorbooks International I have no clue why they took this book out of print because I see used copies go for anywhere from $80-$200. They would make a mint if they were printing it again.
No one gives me more inspiration than you do Brian. I need to finish my bike! At this rate you will have 10 bikes done before I finish mine! ****!
