here at work. Seriously, after searching for 7, yes that's seven years for one piece of stainless trim for the beltline of Big Olds I finally got it. It just arrived here at work from a guy in PA that I was introduced to by HAMB member 38Mags at the Columbus GG event at the begining of the month. It turns out this friend of Mags38 is good friends with the guy in NY that built my '47 Chevy convertible.

While standing around chatting about normal things, trim came up in conversation. I mentioned what I still needed for Big Olds, just ONE piece to complete him, (passenger door stainless beltline trim from a '48 Chevy CONVERTIBLE) and says to me he thinks he has it. I gave him my card like I had done so many times in the past with no luck yet this time was different. It just arrived and it is PERFECT, not one dent or rust spot on it.

I'm so thrilled, I feel like I just won the lottery! Only I think this is better. I'd like to extend a HUGE thank you to Mags38 for the introduction. I owe ya one bud!

I'd also like to thank a NUMBER of HAMB pals that thru the years kept their eyes pealed and sent me PM's and emails regarding possible leads. I appreciate everyone help especially Chevsotlac, skidsteer, pist-n-Broke, lowfat48, blawn49, TMcG, NoSurf, Thom, Meteorman and Mazadaslam. Everyone assistance is/was greatly appreciated.

I just thought I'd share my excitement with my HAMB pals. Now will someone please pass me a tissue.:D:D:D

She really was crying, I got the call! I told her at this rate- 7 years for a piece of trim- it only ought to take another 35 to find a husband! :D

I'm SO happy for you. I've watched you pass out at least 100 cards to people who "thought they had it"!

Congrats on finding the Holy Grail:D I've followed your progress with the Big Olds from when you found it, did the Rod&Custom thing, gotten it painted, and now to here. Saw if from a distance at the Nats North a couple years ago but didn't have a chance to meet you, maybe this year.

There is no cryin' on the HAMB! Bitchin' moanin' cusin', rantin', ravin', demeanin' hollerin' complaning are OK though. Now just HAMB up and put the trim on the hot rod.

Way cool, I know just how you feel. I was looking a trim pieces to complete my Biscayne. It wasn't made in repo so I searched wrecking yards. After weeks of looking, I found a Biscayne in a wrecking yard that had the piece I was missing. I told the piece to the counter to pay for it. The counterman looks at the piece and said, "See ya!". I explained that I removed it off of one of his cars and wanted to pay for it. He smiles and said, "See ya!". I thanked him and left.

Maybe we can help lower her ET. Has she tried sending fan letters to life-without-parole inmates?

Congrats on getting the finishing piece for Big Olds.

Good for you Denise but now let me ask you......now that you found it, are you going to miss "the hunt" for that elusive holy grail piece for Big Olds? So much of, or at least my, enjoyment in my hot rods is the ongoing search for that impossible part. I've actually had cars for years that were missing that one rare piece that I was obsessed on finding and after I found it, the car was "done" and I sold it so that I could begin the hunt anew. We haven't meant but from reading your posts you don't impress me as someone who will be happy to just drive it even though you've finally got it just the way you imagined it would be when you first started the project. Anyways congrats! Enjoy your awesome creation.

    Terry

LOL, I was thinkin "What a woos" for crying about a car part. I mean really, what kind of repsectible guy would do such a thing and then brag about it! But then I saw that the rodder was a girl, so I guess it's OK. They get to cry, we get to pee standing up. I guess that's fair.
