A couple days ago I wrote in with a couple questions I had on a tight crank I had when torqueing down some main caps, and a few guys wrote in with some ideas on how to solve the issue. Turns out, I was real tired that day I last worked on the engines (I have two 283's) and I had the caps mixed up. By putting on the two end caps, I systematically found where the rest of them went ( they were numbered) (well, I said I was tired!!) And now torqued to 70 foot lbs, they both spin freely and I'm ready to go to the rod bearings next. Thanks for all your help and guidance- HAMB will always be number 1 with me! Thanks again,Mikey
why? i'd rather go for a tight fit than some loosy goosey..ewww you know what happens to a loose crank..it beats the hell out of the journals, and just progressively gets worse than no one's happy
