i have a decision to make. i am finishing a tahoe that i have had for a while and i will sell it but should i sink money into a new shop or a mid 40's to 50's truck for a daily driver i want the truck but the shop sounds smarter my one car is getting rather cramped but new toys are so much fun
Build a shop. Projects are cheap and easy to find but I always here someone whinning about not ahveing any place to build a car.
I'm no business genius for sure, but I think most indicators say Now is a good time to BUY real estate or hire contractors to build. Lots of deals out there. Now is a bad time to SELL real estate. Pete
a shop is probably what i shall do. but driving a 98 cavalier to work sux, but when i get the chevy II on the road it may not be as bad no the question is how big bigger will be better
I second the opinion on taking care of the shop first. Build/Buy the shop and you can take your time looking for your daily driver truck. Old trucks are not that hard to find, one may even find you once you put the word out. I still remind myself that this hobby is more marathon than sprint.
I say shop. It makes getting out there and getting stuff that much easier. And you'll be able ti find a truck whenever you'd like, now's a good time to build up the shop.
there is nothing like having a shop...people will bring plenty of unwanted projects and parts and you will have room to build whatever..
SHOP!!! The only thing that trumps the shop is something like a car your Dad or something that has huge historical value of sorts. If there is no obstacle like that in the way, BUILD A DAMN SHOP!
Without a doubt build/expand your shop...better investment and now is the time to be doing it as you will get a better deal and hopefully give somebody some work who really needs it...be sure and check out thegaragejournal.com for inspiration too!
i am building the shop by myself and can get smokin deals on concrete it will be a 3 car and material with steel outside and exposed stud inside with 2x6 walls should run me around 6 to 7500 and then the rest can get put in as the money comes but my cars being outside sux
You can never have enough space! With that in mind, plan your build so that it can be easily added on to at a later date, the design of the roof and placement on the lot are two major things to keep in mind.
Shop - put up a steel building when I bought my property - best thing I did and it has paid for itself in a short time.
