Dad Lee's Open Air Museum northeast of Lovelock, Nevada on Victory Highway (U.S. Route 40) c. 1929.
    C. M. "Dad" Lee was born around 1847 & came West in the early 1870's, residing in California for some years.
In the 1920's Dad Lee ran a Shell service station on road between Oreana & Rochester Canyon in Pershing County, Nevada & built a replica of an old-time trading post, collecting artifacts for display. Around 1929, Lee moved his operation to spot northeast of Lovelock on Victory Highway (U.S. Route 40), calling it Dad Lee's Open Air Museum. Dad Lee was just one of the many crusty characters that colored the landscape of Nevada. As a colorful character & an embellishment artist, the teller of tall tales, the self appointed "King of the Desert" even claimed to be the "Real Buffalo Bill" citing the other guy was an impostor! Mr. Lee died in 1934.
Mr. Lee is buried at the Lovelock Cemetery-section K according to his head stone his bd 1826 which would make him 108. According to San Francisco Historian Society
