It is the "Devil's Elbow Cafe, Devil's Elbow, MO." Conoco station, cabins, grocery store, and U.S. Post Office, circa 1938. The Missouri Ozarks setting with its bluffs along the Big Piney River and iconic bridge behind this unique establishment made for the perfect backdrop for the most imaginative architecture along Highway 66. The local builders used this "giraffe" style rock exterior over much of the Ozarks, but this building with its jagged roofline sandstone exterior was meant to suggest the flames of an inferno.
Unfortunately, a fire in the 1970s claimed this building in the middle of the night.

  8. It's definitely a '33. I own that original photo which was taken in the period. Besides the beltline on a '36 doesn't continue all the way around the back

  9. I have a 35 and i know!:D:rolleyes:

Good to know. I was being a little "tongue-in-cheek" since most '36 race cars got fiberglass one piece '33 noses.
Does the observation about the beltline apply only to the sedans or to the coupes too? I ask because my coupe is a '36 (ex-race car with a '33 nose LOL) and looks like this:
