‘54 Chevrolet Bel Air 4 and a ’59 Ford Custom 300 in front of it. For just $3.50 you can get a Precision Barometer! Which would also fill up that little Bel Air you drove to work, to the store, vacations, and all over. It cost you about $1800 new. Today it would go for about $27,000 or more.( Definitely More )

Main Street Pioche, 1930s — A Town Built on Treasure Hill
This 1930s photo captures Pioche, Nevada looking up Main Street from Lacour Street, now known as Highway 321. The mining works on Treasure Hill rise in the background, a reminder of the ore that gave the town its edge. Pioche may not boom like it once did, but the stories still live in the wood, stone, and dust. If you haven't made the trip, it's worth seeing for yourself.

Main Street, early 1950s. The Oasis and Fernley Community Center (far left) both still stand.

on our regular USA 2 month visit last year our GPS Tom Tom system stopped working on our way through Utah to Grand Junction. It was time to fuel and and coffee break so next town was Helper UT .we discovered the GPS had gone flat and was not charging in the point we were using, change of power point and system came good. But to our surprise we saw this restored gas station, enjoy.

    Walnut Creek, Ca.
Turner Garage, looking North at Mt. Diablo Blvd. 10539. At this time it was a 'T' intersection with Main St. and just to the right of the Shell Station was a restaurant the 'Bungalow Barbecue'

Here is a wonderful, old Ozark-style service station and cabins real photo postcard on old Route 66. The "SUNSET REST CAMP, HIGHWAY NO. 66, ON THE BIG PINEY", Texaco station and cabins, Hooker, Missouri was taken in the late 1930s. There is a sign advertising "Souvenirs, Post Cards." You see many advertising signs on the outside walls of this station that have very early gas pumps. The owner, Mr. Burgard, and his friends have probably staged this photo .

Company store in Osage, West Virginia, 1938. A sack of flour that costs sixty-nine cents at the local A&P sells for one dollar and twenty-five cents at the company store.

This is a cool photo from 1938 looking eastbound at the corner of Foothill Blvd. (Route 66) on the left and 4th Street going straight ahead in San Bernardino, California. There is so much to see in this photo. There is a fire engine, police car, motorcycle policeman, Richfield station, and "The V" restaurant behind the station. And you can see the Route 66 shield in the center of the intersection. The roads are unchanged today, with nothing left at this corner. Gas38.jpg

'Tasmania, 1946, photo by Max Dupain' - Mitchell Library/State Library of New South Wales. The roadster ute (Morris?) on the back of the truck (Austin or Morris?) looks brand new and the ute out in front of the truck could be a Bedford. SLNSW_FL19472794.jpg
