Pretty uncommon to see a station with zero signage. Even the pumps don’t have globes.

  6. I'm guessing it isn't quite finished yet. The welcome sign appears to have eyelets at the top and is ready to be hung plus the roof beams look like they still need painting.

A Pinterest post described it as the service island at the Texaco Silver State Service Station, which was located at 501 Fremont Street, Las Vegas in the 1930s, but the welcome sign has Studebaker logos and the car is a 1930 Studebaker.

  9. I wonder if that is the announcement that the service station is becoming a Studebaker dealership and there is another building close by, or being built, that the gas station does repairs and services in and will sell Studebakers out of. A lot of dealerships started out that way. The local Ford dealer did:
"Gorno Ford, located in Woodhaven, Michigan, has a rich history as a family-owned Ford dealership, dating back to 1939. Originally established as Gorno Bros. Inc., a filling station in Trenton, it quickly expanded into a Ford dealership."

June 8, 1925: The Eagle Service Station was opened this morning for business and the new stucco building, thoroughly equipped with all the modern appliances for the accommodations of the rapid service of autos, presents a fine appearance. It is built on the corner of Third and Idaho streets, on the Victory Highway. A. Flynn and R.A. Kinne are the proprietors, while Mr. Flynn will be in active charge. The corner is one of the best in town for the location of a service station and with the increase in tourist travel, which is bound to come with the completion of the Victory Highway, they should do a splendid business.

Emory's Garage and Conoco station, St. James, Missouri on Route 66, circa the late 1920s. It was constructed in 1919 on the site of a livery stable erected by Albin H. Emory in 1882. The sign in the photo says they were a "Studebaker Service Station."

''Wayne model 60" gas pumps on the island at this CITIES SERVICE station.
    These model 60's were a common site in the 1930's & 40's.

at his first job, pumping gas at a Sunoco Gas Station.
Yes, Mario Andretti did pump gas in Pennsylvania. When he and his twin brother Aldo first arrived in the United States in 1955, they worked at their uncle's Sunoco gas station in Nazareth, Pennsylvania. Mario was 15 years old at the time. This was his first job in the US, and it was at this gas station that they were first exposed to racing, as it was located across the street from the Nazareth Speedway.

In Atlanta, Ohio, 1939, a general store stands near a railroad crossing, serving as a vital hub for the local community. This scene captures the intersection of commerce and transportation that was essential to small-town life during this era. The store provided residents with everyday necessities, while the nearby railroad crossing connected the town to broader markets and opportunities.
