Friday evening, September 9th will see the opening of an automotive art exhibit at the ArtHatch gallery on Grand Avenue in Escondido. It's titled "Immortalized - Hot Rods and Customs of Distinction." It will be juried by Robert Williams and will include works by Tom Fritz, The Pizz, Kris Froggert, Sara Ray, Steve Waldren and a host of others. An opening reception will be held at the gallery from 7 till 11 pm and tickets are available at the door or in advance at Hot Rods & Custom Stuff. More details can be found at: www.arthatch.org/autoshow The exhibit will be on display through October 29th, but this evening will be special. The Arthatch Gallery is at 317 E. Grand, Escondido.

Drawing attention to the exhibit inside the gallery will be a display of about 20 specially selected hot rods and customs parked outside on the street. These cars include Jake Jacobs' tub, Marie O'Dell's Larry Watson TBird, Don Montgomery's "Rockerhead" Willys gasser from the 60's and a bunch of other bitchin' cars.

The regular Friday Cruisin' Grand event will be even more special this evening. It'll start off with homage to our great nation with a singing of our National Anthem by Victoria Robertson, the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance by local Scouts, and a flyover of WWII warbirds right down Grand Avenue.

The feature vehicles of Cruisin' Grand this evening will be antique fire fighting equipment and it'll be capped off with a lights and sirens, "Code 3" run through the streets of Escondido.

If you find yourself in the Escondido area Friday evening, September 9th, come by Grand Avenue in downtown. You won't be sorry.
