Is that Lee Iacocca looking down from the window above thinking HE should be in that picture, since the Mustang was really his baby?
The big new car unvail,at the dealer showrooms, was great fun to go too. No way I had $ to buy a new car,but seeing one was very cool most of the time. Pre 1959,Dad would take me with him ,he was only looking at what ever was new. He only actaully a new car, when the cost was down,at very end of modal years;an dealer was trying to dump what had not sold. But by the time 64;1/2 new Mustang was showing,I went by my self ! For sure happy how sporty it looked,WOW. But by then I was already in love with Studebaker Atvani, that I also didn't have $ for. Never did get one
Just goes to show you that photo bombing is nothing new! Looks like Lee to me, glad I can't read his mind.
Well, it fits the 1964 cutoff ... I was stationed at Great Lakes Naval Training Center. The dealer in Waukegan had so many lookers the 4 lane main street had to be blocked off.
Actually, as Falcons and Comets shared parts, there's more Comet-specific parts than Falcon-specific on the Mustang... and in mid-year '64 the Falcon/Comet V8 cars got the Mustang V8 steering linkage.
Moved to the off topic forum. Mustangs are off topic on the Hamb here is a copy and paste from the site rules. I can't believe that everyone does not know this? Rules: 1. No profanity in subject lines. 2. No political/religious/racial posts at all. No exceptions. 3. No ****. 4. We cover traditional '65 and older American cars only. All other threads will be deleted. We don't cover rat rods, muscle cars, mustangs, or VWs. 5. No commercial posts.
Back in '64, most guys with a heartbeat and a weekly paycheck bought their first new car when they turned 21 without having to have a co-signer on the note. I turned 21 in May of '64, ordered a Mustang, and was driving it by June. I was as dumb as a box of rocks and didn't select the "HiPo" 289 package...... but I did opt for a $35 upgrade, which did liven up the more basic 289 with a 4-barrel Holley and a small cam.
Absolutely not. That car changed things in the US let alone Detroit. Chevy had to do the Heinz (catch up)
