    Gents,

I'm planning on importing a '32 frame into Canada from the US. Does anyone know of the process for this? What are the taxes like? What should I expect or have ready?

    Thanks in advance

You would just be bringing in parts.Need a bill of sale and you would pay HST on the amount after it is converted to CDN dollars.

As stated above you would just be bringing in auto parts. You would need a bill of sale and the value of the frame would be subject to 13 per cent HST. Here is a bit of a money saver. If you are away from Canada for more than 48 hours you are en***led to an $800 exemption. The $800 would be subtracted from the bill of sale value on the frame.

Check into exemptions under CBSA tariff item 966.00.00 as it may be exempt for parts for a car 25 years or older. It would be worth a call to CSBA to see it it is eligible. I just saw this and if buying parts for a 25 year old or earlier cars I have paid a lot of unnecessary duties. Apparently the shippers states what the parts are for and it is exempt under 966.00.00. Worth the time to investigate.

    Thanks everyone.

I gave CBSA a call and they stated that it is exempt from duties, but like QuickChangeV8 and Marty Vanin said itll be subject to HST.

I had my wires crossed some on duties and HST. The governments still collect their pound of flesh. I got hit twice buying building materials in Minnesota because the businesses collect MN state taxes and then the HST crossing over.
