My vote is that you sell the Caddy engine to me.

  3. Already sold you one.....give somebody else a turn  :D j/k Paul ;)

  4. Are you seriously suggesting that a Caddy can't stand up to 10,000 miles a year? We know it would cost more to rebuild, but they are powerful and reliable engines.

How big is a Cad compaired to sbc? Just curious how much firewall work it would take.

I vote Cadillac...yes the speed parts might be harder to find, but they are out there ... I have nothing against SBCs (as long as they don't have billet belt pulleys, or. worse, phoney valve covers!!)...but Caddies just scream tradition...

Go with the Caddy to be different unless you save it for a keeper. I'm going with a 409 to be different in my sedan. Different is good! What ever way you go it'll turn out great.

My first thought is to go with the Caddy, but it all hinges on wether the car will be a keeper or not.
If you are building it just to turn it, go with the SBC and save the Caddy for a later project that means more to you!

Thanks guys. I'm still sittin on the fence. Not like I'm gonna bust a move tomorrow or anything.....plenty of time to think it thru

It really gets tuff when I see killer cars like Jim's(justplainj) or that thing Moriarity posted----it's, like, wow!what was I thinkin?....then the reality of my capabilities sets in, multiplied by my propensity to succumb to my automotive ADD(thanks for reminding me, Gator:eek:)

Is that true? I was having this discussion a couple days ago how I never seen Cadillac engines really pull hard. It seems like everybody sticks to stock rebuilds on them and doesn't get them too hot. I can't think of one car that runs one that's a hemi or olds killer. But maybe I'm not looking in the right places.

Well, I sold it as an unfinished running truck.Ended up going to a Classic Car dealer where they yanked the engine out and shoved it into a 39 Ford Coupe.Dont know what they did with the truck. They were arrogant douchers, they probably scrapped it... a year later I was at Goodguys in Pleasanton and seen my engine in the Ford and took some pics, made me sad.I hated having to sell the project, but had no choice at the time...Oh well.Onto bigger and better things..:D

  27. Do NOT put the Chevy in it. Go for the Caddy...

If I only had the SBC motor I'd sell it and get the Caddy motor.
