Hey guys. Is there any ways that you know of that won't A- Kill me. -or- B- Cost Like $300. I wan't one because, i want one. But can't find much info on them. I've seen some diaphragm type "separators" for mechanical gauges to be mounted in the cab, But the one or two i find cost about $250-300. Is that really the whole story here? Thanks
ive used the separators ,,,giant pain in the butt,,getting the bled is the hardest part..after i got tired of messing with it ,i mounted the gauge on the cowl,
I didn't even consider the bleeding/ pressure transfer part. Ya know, your right. Mount it on the cowl, run a good steel braid to it and open a beer. Thanks for helping me un-overthink it. I've wanted one for a long time, I just have a burning desire to readily have those stats right there, up front. Cheers! (shortest thread in history)
Moon used to make "The Weekend Warrior" , a couple gallon tank with foot brackets, pressure pump and gauge. When you chose off a sleeper ad the driver was pumping something on his right , to late sucker ! A modern day NHRA tech. guy would freak out ,'ya think ? I saw a pic of Gene Adam's n his '50 Olds , you could clearly see "The Warrior" mounted on the trans. tunnel .
I had a on dash SW fuel pressure guage on my Beulah for 20+ years -- worried bout it some -- never a problem tho -- when Beulah was "killed" in that crash, weren't a problem then either -- steel line to the master cyl got snapped, but, the *plastic* line to the fuel pressure gauge is STILL intact! and works last time I checked --
just bought a autometer isolater for our O/t race car $157 + shipping out the door ( summit ) , last one I bought (1988) for the first car was $145 ( with liquid filled gauge ) went with the car when it was sold but guy still uses it , and I had to make a long extension for it ( 6', fuel block was on the radiator bulkhead ) all the in car fluid is 50/50 green valvoline antifreeze ) never had a issue with it . just learn to to keep the hose ends capped and higher than the rest of the hose when hooking it up . stewart warner makes a electric one ( #82333 ) for about 50 bucks and the sender is another $50 ( #279a)
You could do it electrically, much in the same way as an electric oil pressure gauge works- a sender on a "T" at the carb inlet would work. You would have to buy a matching sender/gauge set-up.
