My hopes of bringing home the 50 GMC are dashed. Went out and got a good first hand look Saturday.... made an offer ( Within the asking price closely) and it was accepted.... only to have strings attached.

Seems the ACTUAL owner of the truck all of a sudden was informed his truck was being sold.... Apparently he owes [the guy who was selling it] some money, and this sale was to achieve an "even" status (kind of a mechanics lien)..... That being said, too much hassle was to ensue, and the deal was tossed. Hope they all have a good life.

I'll still be keeping my eyes and ears open for another good old truck. (Preferring the make and body style of the 48-53 Chevy and GMC - don't like the 54 much, myself... all others will be considered).

Not that I *needed* another project, but I'd have sold a few others off to have gotten this one. as complete as I would need to call it a "whole Truck".

All hope is not lost.... I have plenty more adult life left to keep looking for one later..... (I had this one for 450 bucks.... that's the part that's gonna be hardest to beat)

Next time man just ask before wasting your time. Do you have a title in your name? Saves alot of wasted time. Good luck on your search.

That one had problems written all over it. Bad enough those two have a problem between themselves but it would be even messier if you got in the mix.

I have a philosophy that sometimes things were not made to be and you usually find out later why it happened that way. A better one will come along...........with no strings.

In Texas you can pursue legal ramifications. not that i suggest you do. but being done like that would make me pretty mad as well. I am working on a 54. plenty of them out there to be had so don't worry!

  8. i hate all the stupid deals/buyers out there; selling things with parts that "didn't go with it", i thought this old auto parts receipt was the title, i gotta check with my wife, i want it but i have to sell my overpriced piece of crap first. your better off not doing the deal, giving the guy the money and then finding out it wasn't his to sell.

That's the sad part guys.... I did ask a lot of questions about this before I got involved to that point..... the guy just didn't give me honest info. He waited til I made an offer *and* he agreed to it.... before he actually started pulling back.....

I agree it wasn't meant to be.... that's my final answer too. Thanks for the support. I'll keep looking too.

Honesty is one of those things a lot of people don't know how to use. Somehow they think it will cost them money, when in fact it usually costs them more to hide the truth.

I found a 1933-34 tudor sedan. It was a 1950s short tracker race car with no body damage. The car was like the Holy Grail of back yard rubber neckers. It was parked there sometime in the 60s. I visited it several times and made a deal with the lady, only too find out that she rented and did not own the property. Basicly she gave me permission to steal it.... No Thanks.
