in need of REAL advice,,,,

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Hellbound_Hootch, Jan 2, 2004.

  1. so you're about to get more info than an intor,,,but i need REAL advice,,,

i took my kids to indy to see my boyfriend( who apparently thought ignoring me was ok,,,) and his kids for new years,,,
when we got home last night we found out that someone broke into our house (upper duplex) thru the basement and cleaned both us and our neighbors downstairs out,,,,
keep in mind that as a single mom (divorced) with 3 kids making***** for money at Sears we don't have alot,,,so the things they took were easy to carry and kidsstuff (dvd player and movies,,,gamecube and games,,,) along with misc personal items of mine,,,so my kids are feeling it the worst,,,
other misc facts: my rent is as much as 4 weeks worth of pay,,,my ex pays support thru the state but is slacking and owes over 5 grand,,,my neighbor hood is considered ok to pretty good,,,my debt is at the worst its been in over 6 months,,,

after this saga how do i need advice??? and how is it hamb related???

i should probably sell one if not both my cars(58 belair 283 powerglide,,,63 impala 327 powerglide),,,aside from the RAV4 that i am gonna be selling for sure,,,
i have no idea as to how much to sell them for or how to sell them,,,so i need advice,,,
    here's a*****load of pics,,, [IMG]

    THAT*****S! [IMG]Sounds like another inside job.Good luck!

  6. Shitty way to start the new year for sure. To make them more saleable:

Clean the hell out of em'. Get them as spotless as possible. Degrease the engine bay & detail it, vacuum like crazy, Armorall anything that's vinyl, leather, rubber, or plastic. Go after any rust spots w/ rubbing compound and some elbow grease. You'd be surprised what will come off. Polish all your chrome & stainless as best you can & put a good coat of wax on the car.

People like shiney things, but all of the above are in addition to mechanical soundness. Good luck

PS- You may want to wear that outfit from the second picture when potential buyers come by [IMG]

Seriously, if there's anything your kids need, lemme' know. I'm willing to help any way I can.

  7. Advertise all three for sale and keep the car that's left after selling two...!

Sounds crazy..., but if you need money fast this is the way to do it!

    Good Luck

That*****s sorry to hear it, as said give 'em a real good clean up & try ebay with a reserve as a safeguard against letting them go too cheap, you'd be surprised & prob make more than the reserve. Hope things work out.... nice pics by the way & the cars aint bad either! [IMG]

The BEST solution is to bring your cars come down here and marry me and live happily ever after. [IMG]

One thing to remember is keep your head up, being in debt isn't the end of the world.Lots of people owe money, just pay what you can & keep what you can. It'll balance out.

If you want to do some free on-line advertising, you might want to check out www.racingjunk.com. They have a huge classified section, you can post up to 5 ads free for 1 month. They ask for a small donation if you sell thru their site. Good Luck, and like everyone else has been saying, it can only get better. [IMG] -Joe

I think you would have good luck on ebay with the '58 but it all depends on the photos... the pics you posted might "help" the auction.

I know where there is one tail light~ [IMG]

whats the going price on a car like that anyone know?

mytlo said most of it. I'll just add a bit. Acouple cans of spray paint for engine compartment and blemishes will make a car look alot better. Even scratches on the body can be cleaned up with some wetsanding and rattle cans. The color doesn't have to be exact and will make a much better impression than a rust spot. If the car i close to passing inspection, make it so it will if it is not too hard. That will also help sell it. Keep any extras and ebay them. Hope things turn arouns for ya.

Damn..!! That's some*****ed up***** Miss Hootch...

I wish there was something I could do to help...
I'm scrapin' $$$-wise myself right now...
    wintertime is the slow season...
I have a regular old Playstation I could send you to help
occupy the youngsters...and a few games...

I'd say the old ebay trick just might do you right...
clean one car or the other up real good for pictures,
and definitely have a reserve of a fair/decent price...
My buddy sells cars on ebay all of the time and has a
reasonably priced shipper he deals with too...

    Good luck with everything..!!!
and I sure hope the new year gets better for you..!!

    ...Snacks...

I'm really sorry to hear this*****. I just got rid of a buncha old board games but they were for older kids anyway. I can't really add much more except to stress cleaning up the cars. I never saw the 58 before but the 63 is a little cherry pie. Smooth running 327 and the front seat is comfy.
Maybe do a HAMB auction on the 63 and 58 through the HAMB classifieds? Put a reserve on it that's realistic to you.
Ol' dad sounds like a******. If he has one, thin dime, that dime should go toward the kids' welfare and well being. Maybe a little time in the slam would help remind him he has responsibilities to live up to....3 little responsibilities.. Good luck, Billy..........

As much complete self-centered jerk you tend to be and I could be a****** about your situation, I'm sorry to hear about that. My house has been robbed before like that... it's not a comforting feeling. And knowing you've got to get rid of one of your cars*****s to... as much of a pile my '64 was I miss it. I'd see if you could get rid of that '64 and save your '58 for now.... how things start looking up for you.

sorry to hear about this kinda*****. Get yerself on section 8....it works good for people needing help. As for the cars...theyre just steel...kids definately come first,so you definately have your priorities right.
Or you could just marry manyoldcars...he's not so bad!(or maybe just shack up and have a sugardaddy!)

Based on what I've read from you in the past year or so, you seem like a tough chick, keep your chin up and try to smile, you'll pull thru just fine. Maybe tell your kids that sometimes bad things just happen to good people.

(then again, maybe you are really more EEEEVILLL than SATAN and... ok, kidding [IMG])

Sucks about the cars, I'm most partial to the 58, but I think you should get rid of them all and keep the 63, it seems to be your nicest. Or keep your whichever is your favorite, trust me, it'll be really good for you to not let this totally wipe out all your toys, know what I mean?

    Hang in there,
    J

Oh, and don't get married to manyolkars, he seems like an****hole.

    And for future reference,

I gots a sign on my door, it says:

"Asegurado por Smith y Wesson. Anda, mocoso, hace mi día."

    An NRA sticker speaks VOLUMES.

Modernbeat's idea for the "Biker-Gang Housewarming Party" is pure genius!

Sorry to hear about you being ripped off. We went to visit my wife's brother a few years back over a long weekend and came home to find our house cleaned out. Turned out it was one of my students. Anyone know you were going away? Anyways, my wife's grandpa had an Impala that same color, same year. Where you at? and if you decide to sell, how much?
