I'm guessing that if the '63 is a complete driver, with plates,it will be easier to sell than the '58.

Someone here should be able to tell you the "book" value of these cars.

That's absolutely terrible. I'm a Mom too and there's really not much that can make you feel worse than seeing your kid unhappy.

My daughter is 6, but has a closet full of boys toys by preference. If any of your kids are close in age I can round up some stuff to send them, please let me know. I too have a PS1 and some games I could send. Although you've got a few offers ahead of me.

Best of luck. Things will get better.

If they find who did this to you, the punishment should fit the crime. Big 'ol smoky 327 powered burnout on his/her head. Sorry to here about your misfortune going into the new year. -Pete [IMG]

Especially when you own a video game design company and make millions..yeah i agree total waste of time

  12. hootch needs opinions on what the 58 and 63 are worth, not a lecture about the evils of video games. both chevys are pretty nice, and have a lot going for them. anyone know what the market is like on these cars? stuff like this is what sets the hamb apart. four-thirteen

  13. Can't help on prices, but...keep your head up!
If you keep one of those two cars your doing pretty damn ok...RaV 4 Go bye bye!!

    Hope you are well.

If it takes all 4 week's wages to pay the rent, I'd go after fixing that first. Talk to the state about****isted low income housing, foodstamps, food goods. Sux to ask for****istance, but it'll give you room to manouver before you go bankrupt or can't feed the kids. If where you are is like Idaho, once you're on state aid, the STATE will go after your X for the child support, and they can push harder than you can. Keep the cars if they're paid for. At least untill you see where Social Services leads you. They aren't costing you anything to keep and would be a****** to replace with not enough comming in. Besides, selling them is a 1 time quick fix. What'll you do when the money and cars are both gone.

well, reminds me a lil about my younger years.. after my Moms divorce, it was just the two of us.. things were getting pretty bad, we lived ina duplex witha leaky roof, and when my mom complained, we got evicted!! Furthermore, our only car was a '55 Pontiac Starchief my mom had bought from the original owner about 4 or 5 years prior (this is mid 80's).. she was forced to sell the 'Chief... but after realizing that I had the "old car" influence runnin thourh me, she would remind me of her selling her car, and how much she regretted it (but she never made it out to be my fault.. even though she did it to help support me), and how much she wanted another 'Chief just like it. Fast forward about 6 years, and as Im thumbin through the local autotrader type ads, I managed to find an ad for HER car for sale.. so, happily, she was able to buy back her ca, which she in turn has passed onto me, as a wedding gift.

young children have impressionable minds, keep pics, and remind them of "the good ole days" in your cars... you may be pleasently suprised later, when your financially able to re-acquire one of your cars.. it may be a long shot, but it happened to my mom!

BTW, peoples have been offering games and stuff, if you posted ages of your kids, i have 2 myself (my son turns 2 in feb, my daughter 8 in jan) I may have some stuff that i can pass on to someone that could REALLY use it.. E.G. my PS2 took a dump, so I have PS2 games im not using, not to mention clothes that have been out grown, or toys that have been replaced since Xmas..).. I dont think of things liek this as handouts, just stuff Id rather to pass onto a cool person, than making a****** buy them from Ebay!

No kids should go without Xmas presents. I met you & your kids at Indy Rockabilly weekend at the Czars tent. We're not rich, but what do you need? Do you have enough food on the table?

Going back to Ms H's original post y'all have given some pretty good advice on one question: "how to sell her cars."

I probably can't add anything to that. But doesn't anyone have an idea of the value of these cars? I don't, but someone on here should know. (HH: info on drivetrain condition and pix of interior would help, though)

So this is a "bttt" in hopes that someone can help out with this info.

Old Cars Price Guide suggests the 63 4dr V8 Impala in number 3 condition is worth about $5500 A 58 BelAir in number 4 condition is about $3000 The gal wearing the boots is too expensive to even consider [IMG] someone mentioned --keep the old cars--you can always get more money but its hard to find an old car that you can buy. There must be an error in the cost of housing--no one is gonna spend 4 weeks wages on rent--you gotta have money for everything else too! The rule of thumb among real estate people is-1/4 of yer income for housing.

In So. Cal. it's usually 1/3 the income for rent/mortgage but the rest of the country seems to use up the difference in heating/AC bills.

He's behind over 5 grand and she's NOT getting the cash anyway.......

You would be surprised how the thought of JAIL make a person find the money.

I work for the county government and when the Judge says 6 months ....first offense...or half by 5 o'clock.....most find enough money to stay out of jail. As a decent man who takes care of his children.........you did not have to have any court intervention. I admire that !! [IMG] I believe that she could use the help. He helped get them here.....he should help pay for them.....

    Just my 2 cents.........

    People***** (except HAMBers)

Hootch, if you're still making payments on the RAV4, then get rid of it. Making payments*****s and really drains your paycheck. If it is paid off, sell it anyway. You'll get more for it than the 63 or the 58, plus when everything settles down you'll still have the 63 and 58 to play with and you can work on them. If something goes wrong with the RAV4 you'll probably have to take it to a pro to get it fixed and they ain't cheap. Think about when it got hit.

    Good luck.
