You had better read this before spending money on yom plates. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/... the car the less chances of getting h***led.
You can get vintage Texas plates for your year of manufacture and register them in Texas for use on your historic vehicle. By registering your car as historic, you only register every 3 years, you don't have to have annual state inspections or run a windshield sticker. The Historic registration allows you to either run appropriate vintage plates with a small tag affixed to one of the mounting bolts, or special historic designation plates with a normal year sticker. The limitations are that historic registration only legally allows driving to club meetings, test drives, rallys etc. Supposed to be under 2500 miles a year. I ran vintage plates on my '51 daily driver with no problem, never stopped, and drove the car daily to work, etc. I regularly see historic plates on daily driven cars.
DK23 is right, that's how it was explained to me at the DMV here in town. To me...the biggest benefits would be you only have to pay your registration once every three years, no ugly window stickers, and no inspection needs to be done.
