I knew of 3 or 4 more yards out there, but didn't think there was anything worth messing with in them. As soon as Punky told me he was your cousin I thought "shit, maybe Tony didn't tell anybody about this for a reason..." It was too late by then though, I had already told him what I wanted to take pictures for and he thought that was a great idea.
haha, you're not doing so hot on the "late model" stuff either! thats a 51 chebby! they ain't that heavy. under 4000 pounds i'm sure. there really aint much there and they can go on a diet.
If memory serves me right, on the road into Calwood from I-70, there were some 61-64 Ford cars, old trucks and school buses, ect. i have found that the driver's seats in old school buses are similar to the old wwII aircraft seats. They would work good in modifieds.I also spent quite a bit of time in the antique shop on the North side of I-70 at the exit. They have a good amount of automobilia and general old automotive stuff. They had some Tonka trucks also.Stiers stuff isn't cheap but it's fair. Spring is coming. Sam
My dad lives about two miles from that overpass where the antique shop is, he`s usually got some old cars and parts laying around...he goes by Boondocks Streetrods. The place with all the busses is Pitts salvage, he used to have tons of old shit but he went on a crushing spree when scrap was high......sad sad days!
Mokus Pitts and his son Chum. Talk about some characters. I watched Chum remove an engine one day using an Axe to hack through the mounts. Local legend says Mokus has more money than he knows what to do with, but you couldn't tell it. MOjunk, if you had turned right at the Calwood 4-way, instead of left to go to Punkys, you would have found "Shitty Schmidtys". He has about 80 acres packed as tight as he can get 'em in there. Mostly wooded and shaded, with the oldest cars in the back. Problem with him though, is that he is pretty selective about letting people wander around.
