indentify these tailights

help.
what the heck are these, I thought they were 50's Pontiac, maybe wagon but I am not sure.

 

Some kinda gm... the clear lenses look to be the same as 53 turn signal lenses. for some reason I'm thinking oldsmobile

 

Not US Pontiac, but if I were going to guess I'd look for pictures of 53-54 Canadian Pontiacs, which are basically a 53-54 Chevy with the Pontiac grille and some other trim changes. Is there a number cast into the lenses? That's usually the first year they were used on a car.

Those don't look anything like the 55 Desoto that I had.

 

If they're Mopar they'll have the first two or three letters of the make cast right into the plastic.

 

If you really want to "indentify" them, give em a solid whack with a mallet...

Yeah, pretty sure those are '54 DeSoto.

Nice close up! Desoto tailights.... GM taillights would have been by Guide and and have the year in the plastic letter-2 numbers G-53 etc.

 

Nope, the ones in the last pic are WAY bigger!!

 

yes 53 desoto, we put a set on a buddy of mine's old 51 chevy.

You know, so many of those things got junked for the Hemis I don't think I've seen one in a junkyard in over 10 years.
