Sorry, no more info other than it was a winner, but I don't have the year. I regret not photographing the display cards.

Thanks for that info, that's really good to hear. Now that you mention it, several of the "Foyt cars" looked way too slick and were surely clones.

I showed this car earlier, here it is again, but with the historical information as it was indeed transformational. DSC_1902.jpg DSC_1903-Edit.jpg

The #16 is one of two cars built by Joel Thorne an Art Sparks in the late 30s. Both ran the 500 in 1946 with George Robson winning in the #16 and Harry McQuinn finishing 18th in the #14. However in Sept. of that year the #16 was destroyed in a crash at Lakewood Speedway in Atlanta killing Robson. The #14 went through several more owners and was eventually restored to look like the #16 1946 winner.

Rootie, man, that's great stuff. Except that last pic is pretty sad.

Every time I'm in the Indy area I visit the 500 museum.
Can't get enough of the place.

Nope, as speedwrench noted they are all real cars, maybe a little over restored in some cases. His point was that not all of the Foyt cars are Museum property. The best of the Foyt cars is the Sheraton Thompson roadster which still bears the scars of a tough season including some mismatched white pearl paint from what was obviously a mid season touch up. (and the paint and lettering were by Dean Jefferies to make it ultra cool)
