On Auto Hobby.com, they have a pic of a '34 1/2 or 3/4 ton flatbed pickup, plus some earlier large trucks and later pickups to compare to.

    Later,

GMC didn't build their own engines until 1939, so it should have either an Oldsmobile or Pontiac flathead six.

37 sounds more like it. Beings it is a 37 the wood problem in the cab is gone. Cause 37 was mostly steel structure. Sounds like a nice project HOPE YA GET IT...ghost

If it is a 34' GMC it would have the Pontiac flathead in it.

Post some pictures, it would be easier to identify then.

The GMC cabs were basically the same as Chev. The fenders were the same, year for year as Chev; the hood and grilles were different than Chev. The cabs up to 35 and early 36 had a lot of wood in them. Late 36, low cab had wood in the door post and the inner cowl area behind the dash; that tied the door posts together. The 37 and later GMC and Chev truck cabs were all steel.

  11. Should be a tag on the firewall that will tell you the model year as a two-digit prefix on the serial number if it's like comparable vintage Chevys.
