so i found a 193? gmc 1/2 ton pickup in the woods by my house talked to the owner its been in the family since new . the frt clip is there the frame looks decent enough the cab is a lil rough ok real rough . theres no glass in it but thats ok all i need is a windshield and no bed its seen better days but its still repairable waitin to hear back from the guy . but i was wonderin does anyone sell sheet metal panels for this truck . and is there wood in the cab on a gmc of this vintage . and does anyone have any pics of these thanks yall
Try to get some pictures of the truck. I am questioning the 34 year. and does anyone know the manufacturing years of 1930s gmc half tons???
On Auto Hobby.com, they have a pic of a '34 1/2 or 3/4 ton flatbed pickup, plus some earlier large trucks and later pickups to compare to. Later,
GMC didn't build their own engines until 1939, so it should have either an Oldsmobile or Pontiac flathead six.
its lookin more like a 37 gmc and its got a stovebolt in it now apparently someone stuck 215 in it . is that considered a stove bolt ? oh and its a six lug dont know if this helps at all
37 sounds more like it. Beings it is a 37 the wood problem in the cab is gone. Cause 37 was mostly steel structure. Sounds like a nice project HOPE YA GET IT...ghost the pic is a chevy 36
Post some pictures, it would be easier to identify then. The GMC cabs were basically the same as Chev. The fenders were the same, year for year as Chev; the hood and grilles were different than Chev. The cabs up to 35 and early 36 had a lot of wood in them. Late 36, low cab had wood in the door post and the inner cowl area behind the dash; that tied the door posts together. The 37 and later GMC and Chev truck cabs were all steel.
Should be a tag on the firewall that will tell you the model year as a two-digit prefix on the serial number if it's like comparable vintage Chevys.
my dad has a 1938 gmc truck it is going to be put on a 1985 chevy 1/2 ton truck full size. i just pulled the 4.3 motor and trans out of his 89 astro for in.thanks
