When I bought my truck I was told it had Torque Thrusts on it, and not knowing what to look for I took the owners word on it. I was doing some research on wheels because someone mentioned that the spokes on most AR wheels aren't peaked. So I crawled under my truck with a lighter and sure enough, they have the famous M/T logo. So I did some more research, but didn't come up with anything definitive about them. Even on Roadsters.com they didn't get a mention. I did a magnet test and they're definatley not the steel rims with alluminum centers. They're 5x5.5 bolt pattern and I assume 15x6 or 8. I'd have to get the ruler out to be sure. So my question is are these earlier ones? Were they manufactured by Mickey Thompson or Radir/rader. And value wise, what do these go for. I'd eventually like to go back to steel rims with rings and caps for more of a 50's look. Thanks for any information.
I have a 1968 M/T catalog and it shows one piece, alum' 5 spoke mags with peaked spokes. They are called #6 Eliminators in the catalog and come both 14" and 15" in three widths....6", 7" and 8 1/2". Also available were 5 spokes that had steel rim and alum' centers. They are called #7 MK II Eliminators. These were available both alum' finish or triple chrome plated. Hope this helps
