In the latest GG Gazette this pic, with no info, is shown on p.71 taken at a shop tour of one Eric Zausners' car collection in Berkeley Cal. Does anyone have any additional info on it? I'm quite curious about the car itself but in particular with whats going on to the left side of the engine. Dry sump tank?
Well, it has slicks on the back and skinnies on the front with no front brakes, which tells me it's a drag car. However, the body, nose and wheelbase is oval track. The cylindrical object left of the engine has a breather which leads me to think it's a dry sump tank, again oval track. Maybe a double duty car, which makes me all the more curious.
Thats a "Half a Hisso" Half of a Hispano~Suisa WWI aircraft engine.I have seen that car in some of the "little books" from the 50"s.
Thank you mazdaslam! That explains it, and after seeing the b/w side profile, I now vaugley recall seeing it in a mag. many years ago.
Sorry I didn't see this thread sooner, I could have helped since that's my photo. The current owner is Eric Zausner of Berkeley. I believe he is also the owner of Adelle's Sausage Company. I should be able to dig up a couple more shots. I'll post them soon.
Thanks for the new pics, Kirk. I assume this is a private collection, do you know if he ever takes it to vintage shows/drags?
Yowza! nice collection of toys he's got there. I'd love to see and hear that machine make a full out pass sometime. Great pics, Kirk, Thanks!
I have yet to see it, but he has pretty much THE best and biggest tether car collection in the world...literally.
