Just purchased a 53 Caddy. It has no engine or trans. I had a Chevy 454 i was going to put in it but found out today the block is no good. I have a TH400 3 speed trans i would like to use. So what do u think i can stuff in there. Not looking for tons of HP but i would like her to have some nuts.

How about some squirels? They'll bring there own nuts

  3. anything you stuff in there will take some fitting. I had a 56 that I was trying to shoehorn a 472 into. For that you needed to make all kinds of mods to the engine (driver side exhaust manifold, oil pan and pickup, engine mounts, radiator, oil filter relocation and then also remove the heater boxes from the firewall.

What ever it takes i'm up for the challenge Slik. I'm asuming a smaller engine would be alittle less work but i dont want to be able to run faster than the car will go.

Ok people thanks for the very little help. On the other hand the archives are loaded with it. Finally got around to take a peek and my question has been answered. Thanks HAMB.

Thanks guys. As much as I like the sound of "Fordillac" lol I think the Olds might be the way to go. Oldillac...I think I can live with that.

  11. Olds or poncho is a good choice as well as tha later cad mills. Unless your T400 is a BOP or has a dual pattern you will have to come up with a different tranny. Many of the later GM T400s had the dual bolt pattern so they would fit a BOP or Chevy.

No worries porknbeaner if I have to use anotha tranny it will be what it be. I spent 600 on the TH rebuilt. I should be able to recoup that and put it towards another tran.

it's more than a little ot, but there's always the new CTSV motors. 440 hp twin tubro, RWD will bolt right up to your tranny :)
