In the stack of magazines I traded for is a copy of the November '85 Street Rodding Illustrated, and the car is on pages 26 and 27. Very unadorned, clean looking '29 with innovative touches, like a '32 Chrysler radiator shell and a Chevy II four with Ansen 8-port head and two SU sidedrafts. I can't dig up much more information, just hoping some HAMB'er may have some pics or leads. Thanks! Zerk
Terry's son Dale is on here. The car now has a flathead in it. Contact Dale through his website;hotrodarama.com
Sounds like a nice car, can you post a photo and save me the time of looking through a pile of 20 year old magazines.
There was also a good article on this car in Hot Rod Mechanix about 15 years ago, the car was on the cover. Don't recall which issue.
Here's the roadster as it sits today. Hot Rod Mechanix September/October 1990 has a feature of the roadster when it had a hood, red scallops, Chevy II and Kelsey Hayes wires. Oh, and a great picture of Dale with boat shoes, tight jeans and a MULLET. Chris
VAPHEAD, thanks for the lead to hotrodarama, this page has some decent pics: http://hotrodarama.com/2003.html 37Kid, sorry, not set up to scan. Imagine the car from the above link, but with full hood, straight-spoke Ford wire big'n'littles, light paint (might be white, it's a B&W article), a handmade replica 4-spoke Bell wheel, and a handmade wooden dash with oval '32 Lincoln instrument panel. The car ran a belly pan, maybe still does. Tommy and alchemy: what you said. Kinky6 and loogy: thanks for the Hot Rod Mechanix info and the nice big pic. Zerk
Thanks, Rolf. That whole page is full of great pics of amazing cars. There's a lot more to Terry's roadster than meets the eye. Zerk
Hi ZerK: I was browsing the HAMB looking for something on the Hotrodarama when I spotted your inqjuiry on my 29 roadster. I have had the car since 1976 when I rescued it from an ignonimous future of rusting away in the wet Pacific NW rain country. It had earlier served as a comp drag roadster complete with blown early Olds. In its most recent incarnation it can be found in Ol Skool Rodz aboput a year ago when they did a 4 page colot feature on it. Dale and I had pulled the banger out and dumped in a Earl Floyd built 51 Merc 3 5/16"x4" 275 ci Winfield SU-1A cam, ported, relieved, and balanced with Edelbrock heads and a Edelbrock regulat tall dual with 81 carbs. I has a light fluwheel and a S-10 5 speed, and a Culver City Halibrand QC rear. The wheels are 3.5" V8/60 fronts off a 37 Ford and 4.5 fFord F-1 rears mounting 4.50x16's and 7:00x16's. The hubcaps are 1937 Ford Deluxe spider hub caps with trim rings. I built the custom dash using a Brookville 32 style 29 dash with 5" S-W 8k tack150 mph speedo, plus 2 5/8" function curved lens gauges. The car has been driven to Bonneville twice from my home in Tacoma, and wll be going back down again this summer. Hope this helps, Terry 253-759-8827
l took these shots of Terry's car at the BBQ after the Goodguy's show in Puyallup Wa. He's a great guy we chatted over a few beers, and swapped some stories... l think l got some more pics but l have quite a few to look through to find them.
Nice to see you on here Terry. Have you been lurking for awhile? Car looks a lot different than when I rode in it in the early '80's. Mike Shelley in Aridzona
