I recently picked up a 3 carb intake manifold that was said to be for an inline Chevrolet engine.... Is there an easy way to tell what size engine it might be for?? It has no name or other ID on it except possibly something cast into the area under where the end carb's would go......Hard to read..... Thanks.... John
Post a picture and do a search. There was a whole bunch pictured about 2 weeks ago, maybe they'd help you.
Describe the distances between the ports, and the diameter of the ports. Is it finned? Does it have a heat riser? So many thing differ betwen makers, that without a full description or pics its hard to help you.
Thanks for the replies...... Sorry, don't have picture capability just now....May try later....Camera dead... The manifold looks a little like the red/orange one on the left side of Stovebolt's pictures....It has the "block" area in the center like that one..... Manifold ports are right at 9 inches center to center and are approximately 1.75 inches in diameter..... No fins.....Not sure about heat riser...... End carb are with two about 1.38 inch openings and the center carb is on large oval opening, 3.2" x 1.7"...... The carb mounting "pads" are welded onto a common lower casting(iron)....Each end port has an angled opening on top (pointed toward engine) closed with a square headed plug and the each carb "pad" has a opening closed with a short hex headed bolt (away from engine).... The common casting is approximately 1.5 inches thick.... The end "pads" tops are approximately .5 inch higher from the casting than the center "pad"...... Overall, manifold seems a bit crude..... Hope all this helps!! John
Sounds like an old '50's GMC intake for a single 2 BBL modified for three carbs. Is the center carb a four bolt base? AFAIK, there were no stock 2 BBL intakes made for the Chevy 6. Later, Kinky6
