just posting this to give you guy's a break from all the BB/SB chevy talk. there are others out there pushing the limits on the little known inline 6 better known as the Mean Buzzen Half Dozen.

i have a 292 inline that is turboed/ port fuel injected and intercooled. i must say it runs pretty dam impressive. last year it put down a 14.4 @ 96 mph and that was with the spark blowing out at 82 mph and 4200 rpm.

it has a holley c950 to control the fuel and spark timing.

and here are some vid's for you to enjoy on youtube

listen to it hitting 2nd gear.

it gets 18 mpg going 80 mph. tom

i'll get a video of the engine bay.

the exhaust is straight 3" pipe with NO muffler. the turbo quiets it down. loudest in car is idle. tom

  5. Inline sixes do sound cool, we have been racing them for years. We run them in a club called Canadian Vintage Modifieds. They are not as loud as what they used to be for we now have to run mufflers but watch and listen to this, approximately 7000rpm and the end of the chute.

Cool stuff. I know a guy who put twin intercooled turbos and port fuel injection on a '50 Buick straight eight, it was pretty wild, but he had so much money and time tied up into it he was afraid to push it very hard for fear of ****tering the thing.

Interesting stuff. Gotta love straight sixes, bent eights are so common and fuel prices so high, they have such an unusual and obsolete style.
Of course I understand the advantages of turbo charging, but i'll take a vintage tripple set up any/everytime.

used to be a very fast drag raced Aussie Charger with 265 hemi 6 turbo here, was a fast street car from memory high 11's or so, really strange to see as it would pull these big silent burnouts and then be off on the light again silently, struck me as a good recipe for a sleeper ;o)

no but the theory I would think would be the same, ***uming the ex. and in. ports are on the same side. I just made a u bend up from the stock exhaust manifold, made some flanges, plumbed oil lines(return line needs to be bigger and needs to drain back into the block above the oil level), coolant lines, richened the carb(and started using high test) and adapted a go cart throttle cable. Definately let me know if you want more info. although turbo setups aren't generally accepted as HAMB friendly, there are so many junkyard turbos out there and they can be much cheaper and easier to install than belt driven superchargers(depending on the level of boost of course).

BTW. there was a long thread about turbos being hamb friendly..not too traditional but not un-traditional either...:D

last season , the elco cut down a 13.8 in the 1/4 @ 99.9 mph. this was done in drive, shifting at 4800 rpm. this year i would like to get into the low 13's. putting on a gl*** hood and bumpers. tom

  26. oooooooo ****, nice.

I was thinking of putting 2 of those tiny Mercedes turbos on mine, don’t know if that would be too much for the 225, but I think not, I have mine hitting 2 cylinders at a time, its nice living near a good machine shop.
