Insane Japanese Chopper builder

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by dirttracker, Jan 27, 2004.

  1. I met this guy at Pomona fair grounds a few weeks back at the easyriders motorcycle show. Never been to an easyriders show and probably will never go again. Out of everybike I saw I like maybe 6 of em. This was one of the builders from japan, he had 3 bikes there that blew everything else at the show away. Check out these pics and his website, some of the best bikes out there in my eyes.

    His website is: www.zerochop.com

I love those things... rider comfort isn't even considered, and every part of the bike is only there because it lets it be a better engine on wheels [IMG]

Zero Inc. builds some of the sickest old-school bikes around. I checked out their booth at the EasyRider show and the Grand Nat. Roadster Show. All the parts on the bikes are old and chopped up, no repro belly-button shit on these, they even run some old harley flathead motors in their bikes, gotta love flatties [IMG]

Those guys are building the baddest bikes on earth! I met them at the GNRS this weekend and they are the coolest bike people I've ever met, period. No WCC, cooler than thou attitude. They let their work speak for them. They were selling a book with amazing shots of Japanese bobbers INSANE. If I had the money... -stick

insane doesn't even begin to cut it. Shinya and the guys at Zero build art on wheels. The attention to detail is amazing. Rider comfort is an issue with a lot of the bikes but I'll trade in a heartbeat for a Zero bike. Get their book if you get a chance, Zero Chopper Spirt, it's worth it.

I'd like to see THESE guys on TV...if we've got American Chopper, Southern Chopper, etc...when do we get to see Japanese Chopper..and get to see them build bikes cooler than the US builders? That'd be cool...

I would put mid controls on most of them, when you ride one you look like a fuckin dumb ass with your hands almost touchin your toes. They look cool sittin there but with someone on there, sheesh. That sporty is one of their nicest bikes, damn it just screams beat the shit outta me.

I bought the book- I pick it up at least once a week and look at every page. One of the guys wrote a note of thanks for the interest on the inside cover before rush shipping it to me from Japan. I just think they don't take their fans for granted.

The book looks cool, but with shipping, it's a bit steep ($62 w/shipping to europe) maybe I can get it as a gift...where'd my wife go?

The harvester of bondo thinks they're stealing our American heritage. WTF?
BTW, anyone that thinks that I'm not an American can line up at my front door and I'll kick ALL their asses, gimpy hip and all.

Those bikes are really amazing. I have seen japanese guys at the long beach swap just buying up everything in sight. They are doing just what the japanese do best,,, taking a neglected american Idea and creating something new out of something old. There is a lot of design and art in Japan and they know how to take advantage of it.

Apart from the proportions of Zero's bikes -- which look way cool -- I like the variety of finishes he uses on the mechanical stuff. Seems like most choppers are a blaze of chrome and polished aluminum, but he uses flat black, brushed stainless, and various other finishes to add a lot of visual variety to the machinery. Excellent.

  29. I really don't like it that much,I wouldn't give it a second glance but thats just me.

Dutchman does have 'em - 62 euros including shipping which would have been slightly better deal last year when the dollar was a bit stronger - now that's about $78 with the current exchange rate.

I may live in the UK, but my uncle, Sam, still pays me in dollars [IMG]
