Putting a sending unit in a metal tank, is permatex ok to use to help the gasket seal, or should I use something else?TOQWIK

If you mean silicone type sealer, don't do it. If you meant the OLD style of Permatex sealer,go ahead.

What are you doing with the permatex? Just trying to make a gasket? You could make one out of cardboard or gasket material (which is sold in sheets at most auto parts stores). There is also some stuff called Shellac that wouldn't be broken down by the gasoline, but from what I hear, it is impossible to ever get the pieces apart again if you use it.
