Installing a vega box in a 1937 ford

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by canfirefighter5, Sep 5, 2008.

  1. I need some help installing a flamming river box on a 1937 ford ch***is.

Does the angle of the pitman arm matter or should it be parallel to the frame or/ground?
From what I have read it is important to keep the drag link parallel to the tie rod.
If anyone has any pictures they could post it would be very helpful.

    Thanks

I would use a gm 525 box. Its stronger and that is a fairly heavy car. keep every thing as parallel as possible.

    I agree.
Why not install a stock ford box? Engine clearance issues?

  4. This is my first restoration attempt and I asked a local shop and they suggested the flamming river box. After reading here it seems most prefer the 525 box.

It seems like the position of the box will be close to the firewall. Is that normal?

You should do a search on the HAMB before buying any products (ie: Flaming River).

An early Mustang/Falcon/Comet/Maverick box would work well too.
