Mike , the factory threads are 7/16"-20 (fine thread). If you are going to drill ( and I have done a bunch, both in the car and out ) I use the stock size..That way I can go to any decent parts store and get #945 mr. gasket bolt kit. Comes with the real thick washer and is the proper length.. Dave P.S. "drill em all".. you will regret NOT doing it if you run any kind of rpm..
