I've purchased a tail pan, tool box compartment, and trunk floor patch panels from EMS and plan on installing them myself. I have no experience with installing sheet metal on 41-48 fords or any car for that matter. If anyone has any pictures or instructions could you please post them here:eek: so this is my situation...I removed the old pan and left the pieces that attach to the lower fender wells from the old pan (do to the wells being so thin from bead blasting off the rust). Do I need to remove these so the pan will fit in between nicely or install the new pan to the outside of the lower fender wells and trim the panel as needed for the trunk lid rubber to fit? any help is great help! thanks.

    Hey,

Given that EMS makes some pretty good replacement parts, and
you're already battelin' rust I'd use as much of the new panels as
possible. Drill out the spot welds where the oem panel flanges are,
and remove them. Before you weld anything, be sure your deck lid
fit is good. Match your replacement panel fit up to the lower deck lid
edge, allowing for a gasket fit in between.

doing the exact thing currently on 41 chevy..plus *****en products trunk floor as well...of course how I'm doing this one will be of no help at all...in fact, I'm just wasting your time, but I thought it was kinda funny that we both workin on the same pieces of 41 cars
