Technical Instant cool for 4 door owners.

I may not be the first to think of this but I want to throw it out there. Some 4 door owners feel there is a stigma attached to owning such a vehicle for one reason or another. And that bothers me. Removing the handles really didn't hide the fact of 4 doordum.
One day it came to me like a bolt from the blue. Why try to hide those rear doors? Be proud. Show 'em off.
Simply remove the exterior rear door handles. Switch the handles side to side and mount them at the front of the doors. Patch up the old holes and voila! Instant faux suicide doors. You're welcome.

 

That's even worse than just having a 4 door. I thought the instant cool would be selling the car and buying a 2 door.

Might want to leave the holes...need a way to pull the doors open.

Personally, I think four doors are great. My father owned a 36 Chevy when he met my mother and I'm pretty sure that back seat is where I was conceived .

Naw, you don't sell the car. You lift the radiator cap and drive a 2 door under it. Then all ya got to change to be cool is the radiator cap.

The thing with a grocery getter is trying to make it look like not a grocery getter. I have owned a couple of more doors and what I have always done with them and not bother with trying to disguise it. Just make it fast and drive it. easy peezy.

 

Some 4 door hardtops look okay.....

 

My 39 buick special already has rear suicide doors, factory equipment.

 

tri five Chebbys come to mind here. ^^^^ The more door tri five hard top has a beautiful roof line.

 

While your at it, place the handle on the lower edge for that instant Lambo look.

 

A 4 door is awesome if ya got friends that wanna hang out with ya

 

4 Door Longroofs are cool without modification.

At least six 4-doors are required to be "cool" enough for those organized smash-n-grabs at uptown jewelry stores.

Did ya ever see anybody modify a 2-door hard top by adding 2 more doors and B-pillars?

 

I have friends but I don't like 'em enough to have a sword party in a mordoor. I guess I'll stick with the fewdoors.

 

Damn it, now my mind is racing and i am thinking about making a more door out of a cool car.

 

as stated above, if you have friends, and/or Family, that wants to hang out together with the extra doors come in handy. especially if your friends are on the larger size, or older and do not bend all that well. those that have little ones that need to be in scar seats more doors really come in handy. mention above about racing, have seen more door with motor in the original dash board area and drivers seat in the original rear seat area

 

Off topic cars, but I haven’t bought a daily driver in over 30 years that wasn’t a 4 door. And I don’t need it to haul people with, grocery store, ie just normal use, beats squeezing something in behind a seat and jamb.
Even my PU has 4 doors, and I’m in it alone 99% of the time.

When I was growing up a four door was a parts car. I guess I never grew up. Ha!

When I was in high school, I shared a '51 Ford four door with my mom (it was our second car). I not only removed the door handles, but I welded the back doors up and mudded the seams. The first time my mother took it to the grocery store, she was not amused. Neither was my dad. Have you ever "un-mudded" and "unwelded" a car door?

first of all, any car I own becomes instantly cool.

I looked for this exact car for a few years before I found it. faded green, accessories and everything. what anyone else may have thought of it never occurred to me. this one had a bonus under the hood with a 350 as I was looking for a stocker...

had a buddy tell me "don't put too much money into it" because it was a 4 door like it was still 1975. made money when I sold it, and it would be worth 3 times what I paid for it if I still had it.

nothing wrong with a 4 door car. had a 62 Caddy Sedan DeVille as well back in the 80's

 

Here's the thing, yea 4 doors will never ever be as cool as thier 2 door counterparts but they are still cooler than 99.% of what else is on the roads today. Now about that faux suicide door bit... Id skip that all together.
