If she had known, she would have. Lucky for me I have a business account she doesn't see :)

Thanks! The online app doesn't provide for that option. I will call them

It is actually a complete car, but in very rough shape. Some knucklehead installed a Mopar 318 engine that seized. I am wavering about going back to a flathead or the easy LS route.

In NY, you get to fight with the EX over stuff...and then the lawyers take half the proceeds.

HAHAHA. It won't be her first rodeo...I did have to promise not to buy any "cars" without permission some years ago. I don't, however, consider a pile of rolling parts to be a "car". Survived almost 41 years of wedded bliss so far :)

If you haven't told her yet,
    don't tell.
    Never tell.
I had a friend who kept all his cool stuff at a buddy's house. After I teased him about that, he explained that a $1500 toy for himself always cost him a $3000 toy for her.
I said then the math doesn't work out.
    He said "Exactly"

HAHAHA. I have a vacant lot in a nearby city where I can store my toys. Also I am retired Navy and the base Auto Hobby Shop is not someplace my wife is likely to explore. Planning to building some apartments on the lot soon, so will need to come up with another plan

He asks a couple of sensible questions, and mentions that his wife doesn't know about it yet. Then the holier than thou hammer comes down. Stay on the questions asked, please. Hope none of you have wives that lie to you. Many of us aren't that fortunate.

Lol, same. She'd never notice another instrument. It looks like an orchestra is crashing aty place if you open my bedroom door. Guitars, upright basses, cellos, dobros, banjos, EVERYWHERE, lol. And a small piano....

I can relate, every open spot in the house & garage have some kind of guitar or amp atuck there. It's a sickness I tell you.

But according to some other guys we're lying to our wives......

  17. I run Public Liability and Property Damage on my general policy on even my running rods. You do not have to tell your insurer if you are driving it or not. if they ask just tell them you are making some repairs.

They are not on the hook to replace or repair the car with this type of insurance. I am not in Calif so cost is probably not applicable but it normally runs me about 15-20 bucks a month and keeps me legal.

On a side note if your female does not know what you are doing it is about the same as having a side chick. I would probably try and let her know what was going on.

I never said I couldn't tell her about everything I buy, I just said "she doesn't know every time I buy another amp, it just quietly goes into the pile of other amps and nobody needs to know about it". I'm glad I don't feel a need to have to tell my wife every time I buy or sell or trade something; every time I do something, or don't do something; or every thought that comes in to my head.... Or that I have to try to shame others on social media that don't don't feel the same as I do (not so much you Fargo, there's another guy that's doing plenty of shaming and insulting for both of you...)

Some of folks don't feel shame. I'm ok with that. It points out who is trustworthy, and who is not.

They should not get riled-up when someone points it out. If it bothers them that someone is pointing it out, then perhaps there is some hidden shame after all!

I was told by Hagerty they would not insure a project and Grundy runs hot and cold depending on who you talk to. On my last couple projects I have been left uninsured, scary.

They absolutely do. They did require photos of the project and requested updated photos as work progresses. The truck is licensed and titled which may make a difference.

Seems to me the OP is not concerned about loss, etc. just wants the DMV off his back?
I have Progressive. Last year I got a back up commuter car smogged and wanted to tag it for emergency needs.
Called Progressive and added it to my policy, told them I just wanted the minimum needed by Ca law.
Added 7 bucks a month to my existing policy. All they needed was the VIN.
Yes, I know that if I hit someone my insurance coverage would not be enough, if the car was damaged sitting there or stolen, I’m out. No issues. All I wanted was tags and to be legal if I had to use it to get to work, etc.

I’d suggest the OP do the same thing.
Nothing illegal about putting the minimum PL/PD liability on a non running car.

Edit: Never mind, read the first post again. Mercy. I could see hiding money, it’s small and comes in even smaller packages. But where do you hide a ‘49 Ford?
Can’t hide it in a prepaid Visa card;)

I think the OP should worry about car insurance after he gets personal insurance...

I'm not a cheater but if I were...she would have a big garage. And a big savings account. And big tits but that is just greedy and shallow.

Tell her you bought it for her and you wanted to surprise her by giving it to her when it was completed. Maybe she will let you drive it. :)
