I wanted to share info on an interchange for a sway bar on a 41 plymouth special delux 4 door. I searched the net, supply houses, spring shops, and plymouth parts houses for a replacement bar for a while with no luck. I used a 95 to 98 windstar front sway bar for the 41 plymouth. I had to make a few mods to the kit. My 41 had chevy rotors with disc brakes which may effect the interchange. First enlarge the new bar straps to fit the stock holes in the frame. ( I first used spacers with the stock straps which I am going to swap with modified new straps ) I cut down the linkage collars down 1/2" to shorten the linkage. And I made 2 =11/2" x 4.5" L brackets out of 3/8" x 2" bar stock to bolt into the same location as the stock bar. The brackets allowed the new linkage to work. That was it. The windstar bar has some extra height and bends compared to the stock bar. But it works out surprisingly well. The ride is very nice. The new bar is much beefier then the stock set up. Which tightens up the front end response. The price was very cheep. Doorman supplied the kit. It took 3 hrs to do the install. Hope this helps you frustrated plymouth guys. When I finish the swap with the modified straps I will post pics. As I said I could not find any info for replacement sway bars for this model on the interweb. I am hoping to end that with this post.
