One of several reasons I married my Wife. I always figured it was an advertising piece for Signal Oil, and that "20 in 40 and going like 60" referred to the age of the company at the time... What do you think? There are NO mfg. marks. Cast iron, aluminum and paint.
I’ve never seen one before and can’t find anything on it. I’m betting you are correct with Signal Oil, they did start in 22 however. Very cool piece! On the other hand you have the 20-40-60 rule coined by Will Rogers in 1935. “When you are 20, you care about what everybody thinks of you. When you are 40, you don’t care about what people think of you, and when you are 60, you actually understand that people were too busy thinking about themselves.”
Thanks, wraymen. I've always had a "thing" for it... never seen another, 'til Janie Googled it, and came up with ONE. Must be kinda rare.
I found this in a resale shop. Henry Fords first finance company ashtray. It's a 32 engine supposedly.
Found this 1934 Chicago Century of Progress Exibition ashtray today. Stamped copper from the Chrysler exibit.
