IMO Kool video and guy, it would be interesting to hang with him for a while, I remember some ruder/cruder men from my youth (16 in 1964) and lots of cars back then were crude, including my junk, what we have today/quality/craftsmanship for Hot Rods/Street Rods/Cruisers is not anything like it was for most of us that was there from my experiences, will say that I painted my junk (in driveway)back then and still like shinny now, rust and patina is not my deal. The man's living his life his way, doing what HE loves, can't get any better than that !

I am closed minded when it come to rat rods and my friend, this guy is building a rodent rod, if that's what he wants good for him.

In my youth we didn't have a lot and I worked under a shade tree, rain or shine and money was always a obstacle but I did the best I could do with what I had and rust was something you did away with.

I worked hard to give my family a good life and they never had to do without and saying this doesn't make me a bit better than this guy but I can't see where his lifestyle is something anyone would want to emulate. HRP

Ok all you impressionable HAMB guys, you have been warned: Dont emulate this guy's lifestyle!

Is it just me or does anyone else think that there is not a conclusion to reach regarding this subject.

I could be wrong but there was a older guy in LA that got a decent 32 3window from a shop it was a nice car painted silver .. Little street roddy but looked good, everytime I would see it ,it regressed and got more and more crude , if that's not the same 32 it's a doppelgänger for sure

Sounds right, silver decent car, cut a hole
In the roof and slowly took the paint off.

Yep that's the one, Shame what happened to it, I like how he makes them out to be 2 different cars in your link ... But carry the same plate number

This guy may play with cars a little but sure seems to be trying to portray something he is not

Reminds me of a guy who built a rat rod years ago.
    The welds really scared me.
I really was concerned for his safety and approached him on the concerns I had.
He looked at me with a grin and told me he is a certified welder and that all his good welds were hiding under the chicken scratch.
    Shock value???
    What a waste of time.

He's just a guy building what he wants, how he wants. I think we're all like that in a way.

We all leave with the same stuff. The more you have the more someone else gets.

What I meant by "what's the point" is by the guy putting bird **** welds over good welds just to fit in with some "clicque".
Makes about as much sense as putting an Earl Sheib paint job over a Watson.

Ok, finally got a chance to view the whole video.......and............

    a) No, the guy (possible weld quality concerns notwithstanding) has a much higher work ethic than me.

    b) i prefer a "dungeon garage." Although, he may be on to something; i might actually be more productive outdoors, if the weather cooperated. Can't really explain it in words---maybe it has something do to with not being "too comfortable" makes me more productive?

    2) A few things in the video did concern me:
    a) SOME of the welding did look suspect AND there was SOME welding without gloves and other protective gear.

    b) The welding that did take place in the video appeared to be flux-wire with no external shielding gas. To me---wire welding on body panels, ok. Wire welding on ch***is or other load-bearing parts, NO WAY.

Now, we have to remember that this is only a 15 min video; Maybe the welds that were shown were only tacks? And it's just more convenient to whip out the wire welder for that? Also, some shots of the welds on the frames that WERE already completed on the truck and car looked solid and safe. This, in addition to the vibe i'm getting leads me to believe that he's not going to turn out ****.

@donut, can you confirm that you guys have a different/additional welding equipment?

Not at all criticizing, just concerned.
