History Interesting Indy inspired/H Mod style hotrod

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by THR1LL3R, Aug 7, 2025 at 6:44 PM.

  1. Automobiles and old building don’t seem to be to far apart in this hobby. As I start to take on a project that will eventually consume me I stumbled across some pics of an interesting build that I’m not sure where the inspiration came from. My only guess is an Indy race styled Hotrod of sorts. Not sure the location or type of engine (or even it it got that far) or maybe it was a glorified art project, but the guys that haunted this building built parts for McDonnell Douglas so I know there was some very productive guys on the project. These are the only known pics of it and I have almost no info but I will continue to share with people until I do. There were a lot of "side" jobs that got done at McDonnel Douglas. I was told the body of the sprint car in my avatar (all aluminum) was built by a couple of guys at McDonnel Douglas. It was Wib Spaulding's first USAC car.

Pretty cool project. Is any equipment still inside? I wonder if the project car was for drag racing?
