Thanks, @Sky Six , I got some with it. Leaned back they were too short, but now with it upright, they reach to the headlight stands like this one. I need a sleeve/collar that fits over the headlight stud and has a tab with a hole to accept the clevis on the end, and a couple longer bolts on top. Bolts are no issue, just the collar. I don't have a metal shop in the garage.
It is a concern, but I've had it up to 65 with old and new, plus the tow down at 75+ was a good test without being in the danger zone. wss.jpg

  3. I'm not a facebooker but I do watch Craigs list. There hasn't been anything interesting in my part of the world in so long that I don't even remember the last time. :)

@sweetdick2 I'll give the guy credit for not tearing it apart, but he has gone from a runner to a non-runner with extra parts he wants more money for (and no pics). That's a 2500 truck out here. Hope it finds a new caretaker who can get it going again.

He was doing OK until he added the last line about the extra money for the extra parts, without pictures or the price of those extra parts, or which extra parts cost extra. He lists that he has more extra parts then what he lists as extra cost.
At this point, I'm not really sure what parts go with the "almost rust free" and "could run" (?) truck that has bondo on all of the fenders, the doors, the nose piece, and the running boards, and he tells you the tailgate is shot but he has a better one (and one picture shows a fender in the bed of the truck, I wonder if those costs extra too?). and then the truck is in NJ, the rust capital of the USA, no less.

    I wish him luck.

sorry my bad! I figured I'd haggle on the price for the extra parts with someone who buys the truck and is interested in them, I should have taken pictures of the parts.Don't know if any of you guys have tried to get good used parts for a Dodge of that era, not ez or cheap. Took 4 years of trips to Carlisle to locate rust free running boards, a year to find nice rear fenders, and forget about finding restorable stainless grill bars. If the new buyer is not interested in these parts, I'll sell them separately. So to satisfy you guys, I paid $600.00 for the running boards,$400.00 for the fenders and $400 for the grill, I'll try and get pictures of the spare parts, everything is stored away. Sorry John!

Didn't know it is yours. Sorry if that came off as harsh.
I haven't priced parts like that, but I'd guess it's a little easier out here in the SW.
Get pics, post truck price and truck + parts price.
A pic of the bed floor and cab floor all cleaned up (no boxes) should help. Rust is the deal breaker, so showing those helps sell the condition. More work, but it shows you are interested in selling.

Sorry, I was a bit harsh too.

I own a 49 Dodge pickup, I know hard it is to find the parts you have, and I what people are asking for those parts. I also have a pretty good grasp on the the current market of the old Dodge trucks and what they are selling for right now.

Not knowing what extra parts are included with the truck, and which parts are extra can change the value (and the cost) of your truck by a lot.

Better pictures of the truck itself, showing the areas that are bad, and any parts the go with it for the posted price would help your effort a lot. Your asking price is not out of line if the truck is in as good of condition as the small, distant, pictures show. But then you state some parts are bad without pictures of those bad parts (the bad parts to you may not be so bad to me), and state you have replacement parts, but its unclear what replacement parts may go with the truck at its posted price.

Then distinguish what parts are extra cost and pictures of those parts. You will need to decide if you want to sell the extra parts separately from the truck, or if the extra parts are a reserved option for the truck buyer.

Some people are going to want to know if you will sell the extra parts separately and how much you want for them.

Here's a different one. Decided to post here not in post '65 T-Buckets because it's a distant relative. Going to guess it is listed with some year to appease the algo. I saved the pics and uploaded so they don't disappear.

Darn, great price for this one!
I'd be wary that a SBF with a 6/71 and those carbs runs right, but appears to have most of the parts.

  18. Unfortunately craigslist is pretty much dead I'm in Southern California and there isn't a whole lot on Los Angeles's or the inland empire. I actually broke down and got a Facebook just for marketplace. I wouldn't say marketplace is as good as craigslist was say 10 or 12 years ago but it's definitely decent and there is a plus side You can tell if something is legit or not because the people have their profile right there and you could click on it to see if they're real.
Also if you are dead set against Facebook don't forget about "offer up" for your phone, I would not say it is a good app by any means but at least here in Southern California it seems to have new stuff pop up on it pretty much every day when I click on it once or twice a day. Unfortunately we are now living in a world where you really need to look at craigslist marketplace and offer up to find odds and ends or to sell stuff.

CL burned themselves with the need to charge to post.
I get that they can't provide for free, but the dealer ads should have been carrying the load.
I will not do FB, but keep looking without signing in. I found a part there but the guy was a scammer. I've heard a lot of tales of the same from others. The 'safety' is a mirage.
OU has had zero feedback on a couple ads a friend placed. I've never used it. I just looked and the banner says within 40 miles. Tried again with a simple search.
    https://offerup.com/search?q=sbc+intake
All the top stuff was far away. Changed the right side menu from best match to nearest first and the order didn't change!
Nearest in the whole thing was PHX, 120 miles away. No bargains that I saw, most are 100 or more, when FB has many under that. Considering the flood of $125 new chinese copys on the jungle and bay, it's hard to drive more than a few miles to look at some worn, dirty, possible stripped reject that are mostly ebrock performers. Oh, and the ads were for bay, ali and other competitors, just to prove they are not bargains.
The bag ad was laughable! $200 with 5 year warranty against rust! Works with turbos, blowers, NOS, and modern emissions! Don't miss the USA that is obviously not associated with the part.

  24. It's hard to believe those are still cheap. How many more can be cut up and turned into vette carts or end up in the wrecking yard before they start going up and value.
I mean Toyota supras are starting to pull good money now same thing with Nissan 300ZX but yet the Corvette which arguably is probably a more pure performance car is still pretty reasonably priced.

First, it's an 84, the one year wonder with cross fire. Nobody wants to dive into the electrics to do an 87 copy.
Second, the later years of the C4 do hold some value but have a ceiling from the C5. They are capable, but not handsome.
Third, consider the demo of the people who desire them. Old dudes will go older or newer. Young guys will do the same if they dip into Vettes. I notice a lot of the cars in gaming are revered by younger generations. Was a C4 in those?
Finally, by this time every one has been worn out and torn up except the few that were tucked away. They take some real work to get back to nice stock or resto modded condition. Even when lightly used, they had squeaks and rattles, not great fit and lots of fiddling to get it all working in a stock way.
I'd rather have that wild body thing up the page than a beat up old vette with a dead engine and missing diff.
It is sold, have no idea of it's fate.
Edit: When you can get a good running one for under 10K, why repair a beat up one?

I don't pay attention to the market on them, have the 73-82 climbed a lot?
Looks like they are still in a malaise too for a basic b!tch.

    Seller's description
Solid complete original project to build the way you want. The good news is it is original paint so what you see is what you get very little rust, few bubbles in the bottom of the quarter panels and bottom of left-hand door. Otherwise body is excellent except few minor dents, unfortunately the car did sit for many years with a driver side window down and the LH rear floor pan does have rust. LH Front floor pan and other side look good as seen in pictures. The 350 engine will need to be rebuilt, pre-smog so ideal for modern drive train upgrade, rare factory swivel bucket seats with floor shift and console. Driver seat is broken. Power steering, power disc brakes and air

Street legal might be pushing it, but I bet it would be fun to drive. If I could get my big butt into it... Probably wouldn't take too long to loose my drivers license...
Then there is that call to the insurance company. "Hello, I want to put auto insurance on my 2025(?) "Street Project" car, is a Sprint model..."
