I've seen that photo several times, but always in B&W. I'm thinking this one was colorized, but in any event, a great photo.
..................I agree, but my gosh I would take any one of those beauties. Can you imagine what it must have been like to drive home in your brand new, sparkling '40 Ford.
...............and did you notice that the grille sides are chrome instead of body color, lending more credence that the photo was colorized.
Thanks for posting. My dad had a new 40 convertable and I have a pic of him standing beside it. He traded it for a coupe and the convertable went to Calif shortly before the war.
...................It may be Tacoma Creme or a variant of it. Something may have been lost in translation when the colorization process took place. I can't remember ever seeing a '40 that color.
According to The V-8 Album from the Early Ford V-8 Club of America Tacoma cream is listed as one of the commercial colors available for 1940. It also only lists the colors available for Standard models and not Deluxe models which include: Cloudmist Grey Folkstone Grey Lyon Blue Arcadia Green Mandarin Maroon Yosemite Green Commercial vehicles could also be had with special order colors. I have a friend who had a 40 DeLuxe coupe that was two toned and supposedly it was available from the factory that way.The body was maroon and the fenders were tan! Anyone of the 40 guys ever see anything like that?
I found a listing for Cigarette Cream as a spring color for 40 Deluxe at PaintPref.com. There were also listings for: Sahara Sand and Sahara Tan without explanation of their use. Some color used only for dashboards. Interesting info on this site. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
